Hi there,

I'm currently shooting a feature with a RED Scarlet, although we are considering renting another camera for additional scenes (almost a necessity here due the Scarlet's rolling shutter).

Please can anyone tell me how footage from a global-shutter camera such as the Sony F55 might compare with RED footage? Would the difference be glaring, even after grading?

Thanks...

No worries, you can intercut them very well. Make sure to stay in LOG space until you matched the colors of the two cameras and you should be fine. A little extra help would be to shoot one of those gray step cards with same setting on both cameras / same lens. then you can make a lut that map the colors right in something like 16 steps of your histogram and then all kind of differences are gone when you later apply your grade and flip into lin space.

To me a global shutter looks pretty much as bad as a rolling one. What you want would be the motion mount. or a sine wave kind of exposure. Or spinning mirror, like the alexa studio or F65.
