I am thinking about Scarlet and a budget for an upcoming documentary project in early 2010, partly shot in remote locations. The big uncertainty for me right now is how to store the enormous amounts of data on the road. The Scarlet specs only feature the maximum data rates these little machines will be able to process. Has there been any hint at the possibly lowest data rates? Scarlet S35 is now rated REDCODE 80, but I guess this is for 5K 30fs.
- Any guestimates what minimum data rates QuadHD or FF1080p @ 24fps could be?
- I am also thinking about other options for those remote location shots, like using Convergent Design's Flash XDR (fed from the HD-SDI signal) as an interim solution until suitable field storage options are available. Anything (apart from loosing Redcode) that would speak against this?
