  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Middle range PC build for Resolve and Premiere

Hi Olivier

Check your PM. I send you the original R3D and also the exported project files. You can disable the last LUT node when you shift to Cineform files.

I just tried to run it on my fast RAID 800MB/sec. No luck, i cant believe my RAID lose to your 2x SSD ! This is something else, but what is it.

PS. You might need to shift the RED file to RedlogFilm

Sorry, I was wrong somewhere :emote_rainshower: :

I was not exactly in the same configuration on the PC and on the notebook. I did not removed the USB3 Black Magic from the PC to the notebook. It changes everything. Now, I am between 7 and 9 fps on the notebook. That seems correct.
So, the BM USB3 drains some power somewhere...

I will do the test with R3D.

I think this is reason why most DI system still depends on Nvidia SDI daugther board instead of 3rd party capture card. This does explain a lot, the amount of realtime capabilities you actually lose with non Nvidia SDI. This put Speedgrade in a better position than Resolve. I did a test on Speedgrade and i have no problem in playing it back realtime. While resolve with same files, no luck. I thought want to sell off my SDI board last year, im glad i didnt.

Im interested to know what is the speed you got with your system on the R3D without the Red Rocket. Does half premium gets you realtime ?

Hi Rivaic,

On the Notebook, i get 8 fps with half premium and 14 fps at half good.
On the tower PC, i am 24 fps at half good, 24 fps at half premium and 19 fps at full premium

Hi Peter,

Yes, that is the cheapest USB3 black magic card. Works perfectly for me and i don't want to spend a PCI in the PC. I think it draws a little bit of power from the PC, and the screen on the BM card is sometime a bit late compared to the computer screen. As it is USB3 powered, i can work with it in the train with my notebook and a Pana BTLH910 with Vlock batterie.

Thanks Oliver!

Firstly, apologies for reviving an old(ish) thread...
I was wondering how the i7-3930 performs in this configuration? I'm just building my system now, and there seems to be mixed reaction as to how well it performs with the 4k+ demands
