Microsoft in Talks to Acquire Adobe

Run for your lives...

Good shooting and best regards,

Leo

Wow....

Very bad news if they succeed. The Microsoft corporate culture will not be good for Adobe. But of course the wheeling dealing Wallstreeters are licking their chops at their cut for shuffling the paperwork.

If this happens Adobe is ehm.. I was going to say a nasty word...
I have slowly started migrating from fcp to premiere, this news will if true put an end to that!

YES, MICROSOFT will screw up Adobe. Acquiring Adobe will not help Microsoft in one bit to daunt Apple....

Now if Adobe bought Microsoft - LOL.....

Apple should be figuring out how to spread the tools to develop for iPad though it's professional users - Ahem - Final Cut Studio users.....

This will be a disaster.

This will be a disaster.

Photoshop and the whole creative suite will die. Microsoft will turn them into dog food. (That's what Microsoft itself calls it.) Can you imagine Photoshop with a ribbon interface? It will be unusable, just like Office is now. And the Mac version will come out years after the PC version.

Not that I will miss Adobe or Flash, but I sure will miss Photoshop.

Maybe Oracle will swoop in and buy them instead.

oh the hyperbole...

ms aint dumb. they are not going to screw up the asset, surely not in the outrageous ways yall suggest.

Of course Microsoft would screw it up - they have a history of buying companies and destroying their products...

I doubt that Adobe will actually be acquired... Being bought by Microsoft is probably the worst thing that could happen to them at this point...

Well that is one way to kill Flash.

And kill it they would. Microsoft wants Flash dead almost as much as Apple does. IMO, that would be the only possible benefit to this scenario if it were to come true. Microsoft's HTML5 implementation is quite good and GPU accelerated too.

Indeed.

Microsoft just spent a billion dollars buying Danger and turning it into the Kin Phone that literally sold about 10,000 units in a month before they took it off life support. They have done this dozens of times with innovative companies. It is impossible to exaggerate how inept they are.

Don't hate the player, hate the game (lol)...

Some How, I knew this was gonna happen!
Adobe products are great IMO, but am curious to see what these two companies come up with, nothing surprises me these days.

Can't wait for these 2 fast-moving, forward-thinking giants to get together

Microsoft and Adobe are already deep in bed. 90% of the new features in their products are out of Microsoft R&D and University of Washington. This would just formalize that relationship.

Adobe would benefit from Microsoft's extensive R&D budget. They would have free access to things like Microsoft's voice recognition research, they would be working closer with the Microsoft vision research team which is huge.

Adobe isn't some small innovative company. They're a huge slow behemoth like Microsoft. Their cultures would meld beautifully like two slugs mating.

Microsoft also has a pretty large codec R&D program. VC1 is the main codec employed by Blu-ray. That's Microsoft's product.

http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/projects/gustav/ very similar to development done by Adobe for CS5.

Flash might have great artist tools but Actionscript sucks monkey balls. .NET is infinitely superior. On the other hand Microsoft's silverlight composer or whatever it's called is pathetic in comparison to Flash studio. If you combined Adobe's creative tools with Microsoft's platform you would result in much better product.

RE: Office Ribbon. Best innovation in office in years. And I'm not being sarcastic. Spend a day learning the new way of doing things and it's orders of magnitude faster, cleaner, smaller and stylish.
