Microsoft in Talks to Acquire Adobe

I think if MS vs Apple went head to head for systems for creative content production it could be really great for the market. Solid competition. Apple would have to step up with a PhotoShop App or Make Aperture more full featured.

From a programming stand point, I would challenge Apple to come up with an environment that comes close to Visual Studio or .NET.

Indeed. Apparently Xcode 4 will have built in InterfaceBuilder.

I still love VB 6 for its super simple and easy interface building for rapid application creation.

It does have IB built in. The rest of the interface has been greatly improved as well. Registered devlopers can download a beta from the apple dev site. I use it a lit more than version 3 even though there were some little bugs still.

ehhh
the two simply don't go together. Microsoft is to clean for the artist crowd.
Remember Softimage?

Yeah but that was what 1998? And everybody hated Softimage. In their defense they did force Maya onto the desktop PC which was a huge advancement for everybody (Well I guess Max has always been a desktop application).

Microsoft by aquiring Softimage and porting it to Windows NT proved to the world that Desktop 3D apps were the future and SGI was a dithering old dinosaur. No longer did you need a $30k SGI Octane system to work in 3D. That was pretty big stuff. Yes once they made their point they let is dither. But so did Avid. Not really understanding what to do with Softimage was a problem every acquisition company has faced.

Which reminds me Avid | DS was originally created under Microsoft's ownership. Not exactly a creative tool to sneeze at.

After the recent profit warning, 25% was knocked of the price of Adobe shares. As a shareholder I see Microsoft's advance as positive. If the price is right I would happily sell.
