I don't know if "ended up doing great" is the right phrase. I definitely made more money overseas, but I doubt it has broken even yet. The movie cost $190million, the ad campaign added maybe another $75-100M?, the film was $250-300M in the hole before it was even out the gate. Worldwide it has grossed a little over $400 mil ($101 US + $305 international) of which it maybe gets a little over half after the split with theaters? And that big international number is offset by the fact $111M is from China, where the split is more like 80/20 and WB is only taking home $20-$25M. I'd be surprised if WB has taken in $200M off this project. Hardly "doing great," and I'll those "rumors of a sequel" are merely last minute PR spin to get more people into seeing this one.
