Mexican Sugar Mill - Hot, Smelly, Sticky....Amazing

Hi Guys,

I'm currently on a project in Mexico, shooting a corporate. Here are some quick stills frames from some footage I shot yesterday. All available light, 800 ISO Canon 24-70mm lens.
This sugar mill was the smelliest, stickiest, dustiest, dirtiest, hottest place I have ever been to, but at the same time one of the most exciting locations. Wish I was better at grading, in color these shots look like David Finchers Alien 3, what an amazing place:

Before reading the description, I was going to ask why you slipped in a shot of a science fiction set (actually thought 'is that Alien 3?').

What is that, exactly? Is Mexico testing sugar-powered superconductors as an alternative energy source or something?

thanks Daniel, I'm not editing myself but once I get a copy I will. the color balance of these shots is unreal, what an amazing place, so many interesting textures. Light rays shooting though the roofs everywhere, steaming vents, dust in the air....good fun...but any camera assistants nightmare. I think my Epic will need a decent clean after this lol

Haha Mike, you're not far off, these are big cooking vats where they boil sugar cane and make....sugar...white crystallized sugar. And this plant does indeed create electricity during this proces, while they boil the sugar cane it creates heat and steam, which fuels a turbine that creates power which the plant feeds back into the local electricity grid. While I was shooting there the plants machinery required 8 KW of power a day and created 21KW in the process...quite nifty those mexicans.
