Dreams :) You realize just for a preston just the receiver side alone costs $5000?

Jarred said 5.000, this is a good starting point. :-) :smiley::smiley: :-)

+1!!!!!!!
Much more important

Will some of these pieces of functionality be broken off (eventually) into separate modules? For those that don't want the lens motors/power tap points, or the V-lock mount, but want wireless monitoring and another monitor/SDI port.

No, Jarred said that the receiver for JUST a Preston receiver costs 5,000. He is letting you know the Meizler Module does alot more, and therefore will cost alot more.
Don't get your hopes up for a 3,500 - 5,000 module.

This is designed for people that have crazy amounts of money and enjoy convenience in a compact size. Most everything this module does can be done already with a Teradek Cube ($3,500), Zaxcom Nomad 6 ($4,400), and an ERX1TCD ($600) - In fact, I'll put up your dollars to my donuts that if you open one of these up, it'll have Zaxcom engineered pieces in it.

Zaxnet = wireless gain control and TC jam synch over a 2.4ghz RF network. This sounds VERY close to that.

Above configuration will give you wireless HD monitoring, TC, and wireless audio for $8,500. My guess is these will start around double that: $18K

If you need wireless lens control, charging ports for your Redmote, and extra power ports you are paying quite the premium.

Hopefully one day I will have that kind of money to spend, but I'm saving up for Dragon first.

haha you guys are still guessing, sorry been outta the reduser loop...on the road with my Scarlet =)

had a conversation to a sound guy about this module and even he's excited!!!

April is around the corner....patience

Doug, I' would not go with Teradek to any serious work - poor image quality, awful delay, connection drops, etc. Good solutions (like BOXX) costs 10K+.

Agreed X 1,000

anyway , just hope that it get's "Red" reasonable pricing, like they 've always done before.
Coming up with prices as 20K seems not to be on par with Red's traditional pricing methods.
I hope Jim and Jarred can fill up the gap there is right now , and give us this incredible module at a price,
where we feel happy to pay for it and let it make our lifes easier. I know many of you might already have bought similar systems that were way more expensive, but I guess this one could be made some cheaper and accesable to more happy end users then some off the brands could have reached. You only buy this if you really need it otherwise, an achievable price for everyone could sell many more units.

Jarred:

The Pro I/O module was originally going to have encryption on the wireless to keep snoops and pirates out. Will the module have encryption capabilities?

My guess would be somewhere around 12K, plus the added cost of a motor for the power port, and also, transmitter and receiver... So... Somewhere around 22K total... I would sure love one to teach with next year.
