Respect is a relative thing-relative to those who give it, and relative to those who receive it. If someone wants to display their charm and have others admire them, that's their prerogative. I totally get the whole RED vibe, and I love it. None of this negates the greatness of their contribution to modern cinema. I just love that free spirit, and will continue to love it even more when I'm older. I love the images this conjures up in my mind- Kick-ass Camera, handsome guy, hot chick, sports cars, beautiful puppies, etc. Love it, Love it!!!By the way, I hope the RED team never falls into the trap of changing their way of thinking and expressing themselves just because some object to it. Everyone has the right to be themselves. If you have a problem with the way Taylor dresses, it's not that you're getting old, but rather that you have other personal issues of your own to resolve. And that's not Taylor's or anyone else's problem on Earth. Let Taylor do what she will. To say that she must've been coerced-now that's disrespectful, both to Taylor and the guys at RED.

This is a good point. This company is unconventional. Nobody in their right mind sets out to build their first ever camera to be "first among cameras". That's....unconventional!

Although I completely don't have a problem with nudity (hey, I'm European :) ),
and I don't think the picture is disrespectful against women (because if she wants to pose half naked, and doesn't object men looking at it... why not?) but I DO think that this is maybe a step too far to post in the official RED forum. Maybe that the off-topic section would be a great compromise, but I agree with the criticism: many of the pro world is looking at their delivery dates and stuff - which I believe, RED is doing the best they can to do as much as possible - but this picture really gives a bit the impression of the 'school boys stunt' as someone here named it...

I love the approach of RED, how they do things, but I think this feels a bit 'cheap'...

To each his own, though.

Ooooohhh get them. Those yanks are in a real quandry.

On the one hand they like a well stacked bird - on the other you can't ogle because that's not PC - unless it's a porn movie, which by definition isn't PC - and then that's OK - because obviously that's why women who consider themselves attractive take their clothes off in the first place - as soon as some one points a camera at them.

Come on people who is exploiting who and what? Ohh - I don't know - there are some partially clad breasts in front of me and mind has turned to jelly.

C'mon men GET A GRIP - no triple pun intended !!

Taylor looks lovely just the way the photo has been composed - a perfect ten - it's there to be enjoyed - you can look at the menu without tasting all of the food - where's the harm in it?

Lighten up - if was real exploitation I'm sure someone will be round with a clip board to record the offence in no time - is Taylor going to take Jim to the cleaners and say she was forced into a provocative pose - get REAL!

She's probably got a PhD in material science (or something?) - anyway she can be my doctor anytime . . . . . . yeah I've got the pain Taylor - it needs rubbing better - - - ahhhhhh

Warmest regards, Phil

Jaadgy, That's a great way to spin it..

"If someone wants to display their charm and have others admire them"
I won't even comment on this, it's just wrong is what it is..

"None of this negates the greatness of their contribution to modern cinema."

Actually, it's all about the brand RED want to build, every move they do will be judged by people all over the world and it contributes to their brand. This is a basic rule we all play by as persons or as corporations. No one can dodge this rule. It cannot be bent or broken. Posting pictures like that do affect the way we think about them. For some, it's positive and for others it's negative. It's all about how RED want's their brand to communicate to their customers.

Attacking people telling them they have personal issues is just immature. In some countries stuff like this just don't play well at all. It has nothing to do with personal issues but basic values about equality between the sexes or other countries is about not being equal at all. And Yes, RED is an international company.

Taylor is free to do what she want. We are free to think what we will about that, and that's all good. But the fact remains, it do affect RED and the way their customers view them.

I woudnt debate this at all if it wasn't for the fact that I do care about RED and the way customers view them. Please don't hang me for that.

Andreas, you have articulated my thoughts and feelings better than I have done in previous posts, leaving me nothing more to add on this topic.

Thank you.

Phil, BTW, you have a wicked sense of irony... enjoyed your take on the issue.

Just the fact that there's even a debate about that picture is so ridiculous and absurd. To think that someone would stop the clock of his life to object to something to which he/her has no right to control or change to suit their personal, subjective believes, just boggles my mind. I reiterate that whoever has a problem with it has serious personal issues to resolve...period. Live and let live or at least live and let die.

I am conservative, despite of my taste for rampid Rap Music Videos. When I first saw the pic, I thought, 'Wag the dogs tail.' Sure enough it still dominates our headlines. It must have been a bold call to make... conservative in nature- I would have kept those in my private stache.

But staying with the objectifying comments, Taylor, I would have loved to see the eyes. The glasses hid everything.

While were at it, let's bring everyone back, Kelly,... sorry, that's the only name I can remember, besides, sean and zak... the last two I can live without- sorry fellas

What a great way to be taken seriously by an industry that has all their eyes focused on you delivering right now.

In SoCal the women are not all communisitc like they are up there. We actually can have fun down here.

I have always said...If god gave it to you, it was meant to be seen.

With that said, in the end, everything comes down to personal choices. Damn anyone who judges another for personal choices they have made. It is easy to judge from the comfort of a computer station, not knowing the who, what and why, that came before a specific event. The buzz this post is generating shows the genius behind it. Love it or hate it, those who have an opinion will communicate this to others. Others will listen, create opinions of their own, then the process starts all over again. It makes you feel an emotion. Whether it be love, lust, hate or envy, that imposed emotion defines the border between craft and art. Like it or not, if you have posted an opinion, you have elevated this image to a work of art because you felt something. I may hate it, or I may love, but thank you to the RED team for making me feel something!!! This is a world of average, apprehensive and self-conscious brands. Most of which, unstoppably unload there tons of emotionless, plastic, consumer driven products on us. Among this pile of garbage RED is a rebelous and emotional leader offering us tools of creation. RED is the wake-up call this world needs.

Wow, what happened to this thread. It was just a bit of fun... Someone hit the delete key! :)

GrandPa I'm going to adopt you :-)

Hi Guys,
I think the whole weapons culture thing with Jannard and
the guys at Red is a even bigger worry. What is that?
Aircraft with military markings,Hum V's, Logo's with saw teeth and
a knife spider Red camera. The eary renders of the Red camera
looked like something out of Bond, James Bond.
What the faaaar!!!! Now the sex/boobies thing. Sooooo early Euro
porn, (guns & girls) and a vacant stud, staring off eyeline. I'm puzzled.
Please explain. Mezmo

i'd like to make it clear I have no problem with the picture, I just have problem with the fact it was posted this week of all times. Jim raised a big stink in a lot of places about that ambush test (rightfully so) And now a ton of industry eyes are pouring over the site and RED in general. It just going to make it harder for me to convince producers RED is going to be a solid option and not some fucking toy a rich kid PA would buy, because frankly that is exactly the impression this kind of imagery implies. No adult supervision indeed (not something I can tell a producer).

I just bet all the female cinematographers love the picture too!

Makes them feel right at home.

...for an explanation, you'll have to to go meet Mr. Jannard in person at the future RED compound in Washington State, which he just bought this morning after reading this:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7012020.stm

That's where the original "Mysterium" device will be kept. And where he'll create RED Team clones to help him deliver the revolution we all want in this forum.

All the answers you seek will be there.
