There is/was a FF Epic announced before the Monstro, if I remember correctly. But I may well be wrong. Then, on the other hand - with all the 5D craziness, it makes absolute sense to release a FF Epic right from the start...

My 2.5c of absolute speculation.

but I seriously doubt Jarred would write FF as a Freudian slip...

Well, FF would leave the production model idea behind, at least for these.

Maybe a 6k minus filtering, minus look around yields a 5k frame. If they are shooting Monstro chips already, I'm officially shocked and pleased!

The FF is supposed to be Monstro sensor, isn´t it?

Look at the resolution Jarred posted: 5120X2700. That is still 5k S35 and not FF35. If you look at the latest resolution lists RED has made they list the resolution that uses the full sensor as FF. It definitely does not mean FF35.

If my theory is right, Jim and company are taking a slight dig at the folks who called them a scam way back when.

So far the EPIC-X Protos have been named:

SNAKE OIL
LUCKY
JACKPOT
CRACKPOT
GHOST

Touche! I would like to see the next one called VAPOR, as in Vaporware! ;-) What do ya say, Jarred?
