  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Meet Charlie..

Any pictures of the "prototype form factor" camera? I'm curious!

I like to imagine that it looks like this.

I see your fill reflector has 24 ribs.

Nice!

On Edit: Jarred just posted that set-up pic while I was composing my post... I was, of course, counting from the amazing detail in the eye reflection...

heh heh believe it or not thats not the fill... if you look closely you see two catchlights in the eye.. the B2Pro umbrella in the photo above is the small one :)

We still have a lot to do before EPIC is ready to ship. Don't plan on tomorrow.

Jim

Thank you for constantly taking one on the chin to share with us that are interested.

Charlie looks wonderful.

Delivering this image quality with REDCODE 28 is more challenging than if you used a higher data rate.

Hmm. Never thought of that but it make sense. I asked because (maybe I missed it) but I don't recall hearing if RC100 will be usable on existing cf cards. I was under the impression that the cf module is the only one ready for prime time right now and we'll have to wait for other (ssd?) modules to hit RC100.

Charlie looks gorgeous.

Working Epic 5K prototype almost ready for NAB.

Competitors A, B, C, D, E,... they are all "scared" of the Charlie's sized 5K and his 4K projection.

K.. im going to clean this thread up and kill the last 3 pages of nonsense... And Chuck gets a time out :)

k.. back on track now. Lets keep things positive.

This is an exciting day for alot of people, so lets not let juvenile fist fights ruin it for everyone.

Great image. Jarred, thanks for sharing.

Cleaned up indeed.

So about that recording. What will our CF cards be capable of in 5K land?

Well I am very pleased with this image, and think you guys are doing a great job. Maybe my expectation are just too low because I have a DSLR from 2005, but I'm satisfied.

One thing that's blowing my mind, assuming I don't epic fail at math (like usual) : This jpeg is 4mb. RC28 / 30fps = <1MB per frame and I'm sure higher quality. So that makes RC like a zillion times more efficient compression than JPEG. Pretty neat.

Jarred, congratulations for the whole team. It's such a nice feeling when something in converted from an idea to a real working prototype after a lot work. It's a lot of water under the bridge after the first news of Epic and 5K and now it's there as a prototype! The image looks wonderful especially taking into account it's RC28.
