Do I need to unmount CF cards and the RED Drive before I power down the camera if I have not finished using them? Or can I leave them attached to the camera until the next time I power up?

Always best to unmount first.

Do you mean unmount in software or physically?

Does powering down the camera (without unmounting) with the RED drive or CF card still attached effect the files already shot? And, if I do leave the media attached, can I simply power up the camera again...say the next day, and continue where I left off?

seems like a simple question. Strange to get two totally opposite answers and one that makes no sense at all.

Sam,
If you have stopped recording, then powering down the camera with the drives attached will have no effect on the files already shot. We all do it.
Shane.

You can leave it attached on camera . Never had a problem with that, would be funny if you have to change the battery, but first you have to unmount your cf or hdd.

keep shooting,

Robert

A little bit off topic...:

And change the lens while the camera is on?

Thanks

G
Most definitely. But treat it just like you would a film camera and cover the exposed mount with your hand or body and "check the gate", in other words check for any dust on the OLPF.
