  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Media 100 User?

Oh dear lord... I used Media 100 up until about two years ago at my schools media station... wouldn't switch over the bastards...

Learned to love and hate it... make it work, but anything other than simple editing... you're not gonna get very far...

I was also on a G3 that had seem much better days

Wow there are still Media 100 users. I thought they were extinct? I gave up in 2000 when they tried to sell me a firewire I/O breakout for $3000. Get out while you're still kicking!

I was still editing some Media100 up until a early last year on a G4 Quicksilver. Long story! In it's day it was great to cut on - I could bang out edits so quick on it. But for a whole lot of stuff it was a pain. Lucky it integrated well with After Effects!

But since RED came into my life my Media100 days are far behind me - it's been intel macs and FCS/Adobe all the way since. I guess you could still import RED shot footage into M100 - just need to transcode it to lossless/uncompressedQT or something first. Are they still selling new M100s now?

EDIT: Just looked it up - they are still going! WOW. Although seems its more software based and the hardware comes from BM/AJA these days. Anyone bought one recently?
