May Update... The month of Raven

Let's all relax and do a Scarlet-W queue thread!

Then wait for your Raven DMC2. You switched 6 months late, queue up, like everywhere else in life. Do you cut lines when you go shopping because you were waiting in a DIFFERENT line longer? Nowhere else is this tolerated, why should it be here?

Because the owner makes the rules for the queues. Sometimes they are straight forward, sometimes there is a labyrinth to handle the volume.
I don't get why you are you up against some pretty simple to understand rule? And you just cast false blame on users that just want to stick to the rule.

If you are waiting in que for an ice cream and the owner says: look, we are a bit short of ice cream but we also just released some new cereals. We started a que just next to the ice cream que. If you want to switch to the cereals que just move to your left according to when you came first, because you were already in the business's waiting room for some time. It is very simple, logic and takes care of everyones needs.

You can't just come today in a community and demand priority just because for you it seems you are the first in line. There are loads of other people queuing up before.

Let's make this thread positive again. We're all gonna get cameras and they're all gonna be amazing. Don't forget that part. Waiting is waiting no matter when you deposited or where you are in line. You'll forget about it the moment that camera is in your hand guys

I switched for multiple reasons as I stated David. I'm free to do as I see best for my business and for my finances. I haven't skipped anyone. RED stated for a long time that orders would be fulfilled by dsmc2 order time stamp. It's no secret.

But most of us don't see the Raven queue as some sort of "any DSMC2 camera" queue. If people are still able to switch to Scarlet-W and get priority, that means everyone who ordered a Scarlet-W after its announcement is still being perpetually shifted back in line. They only make so many cameras per week. So at what point do they actually get to the people who never wanted a Raven and waited for the new Scarlet to be announced? I feel it's a bit disingenuous to imply that they've been waiting since September for a camera no one knew existed until December.

This has been gone over a bajillion times in the thread, so there are plenty of analogies for the lines. Those of us who waited for the Scarlet-W can see and appreciate the gesture of allowing people to switch from Raven but to give it a 6 month window to accumulate orders seems a bit strange.

Queues are a thing we have to live with, you should live in the uk where queues are an art form. You have to be Zen like with queues.

l ordered my RED RAVEN V-LOCK I/O PACKAGE on the 26th September 2015, deposit straight down, paid in full on allocation 9th May and still waiting that's nearly four weeks ago, but l
understand that it has to be completed in the USA shipped UK, customs further shipping etc. pre checks at RED Europe and then final shipping/collection to me.
This all takes time and people have got used to instant gratification, order a book on amazon with you the next day, but this is niche equipment and outside mass
production so learning to be patient can be a little difficult, no point stamping of feet and shouting, what will be will be, you have to trust in RED though sometimes
frustrating as hell but always worth the wait.

In communist times in Romania people used to stand in line a lot, long queues, because shops were always short on supply.


There was this joke from that period about a guy who, while outside walking, stoped next to a wall/entrance and stood there for awhile. Instantly another guy gets in line behind him, then another, then another until a huge queue is made.


The last person asks: "What are they selling, what is the queue for?" - people pass the question from one another till the first one, who replies: "I don't know, I just felt a bit sick, leaned on this entrance door and that was it.”


Then they ask him: “And why didn’t you leave when you saw this huge line being formed behind you?”


And he replies: “Do you think I’m stupid? I’m first in line, how could I leave?"

I think experiments like that were part of Milgram's suite also, where he had some folks stand "in line" to find out whether or not other people would join in. They did.

I'm hoping Movcam has an update on their top plate, I want to see some prices and a release date. And I'm interested in seeing what Mikael and Wooden Camera are doing with the new wifi side plate they were teasing the other day!

So it seems that they will only be dealing with first 2 days until August. And then maybe in august they get to rest of December and possibly January. Oh well.

So it seems that they will only be dealing with first 2 days until August. And then maybe in august they get to rest of December and possibly January. Oh well.

I suppose that makes sense, it took them March + April to get through the people who switched from Raven to Scarlet-W (which I've heard was a lot of people). So Dec 10-11th will be a massive mountain of orders that could take two months to get through. Any indication of when allocations will ramp up this month? Of course, I know there could have been allocations going out these last couple days that we haven't heard about, but Monday is the first full week of June, so I assumed things would kick in then.

It's probably all that he knew. My rep told me that he expects mine to get allocated fairly quickly once Scarlet-W starts up again, so I'm optimistic... my impression is that there are significantly fewer Scarlet-W orders than there are Raven orders (which makes sense), so with any luck they'll be able to get through the first few days worth of orders reasonably quickly.

Well this is bummer news- we're also an early Jan timestamp.
What's really frustrating is that we WOULD have been an early Dec, if it weren't for a massive insurance snafu on a production accident in October...

First of my two pre-Orders is day two noon (approximately). Will it get allocated this month?
Also is there anyway in heck the jetpack SDI (with GigE!!) will ship before fall?
Literally dying to switch over from Scarlet MX to Raven!!
