  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

May Update... The month of Raven

Jarred, I am relatively new as a RED owner, even if I was in love with it since it first came out. I shot with it since the time of the R1. So I am also relatively new to the forum. But I have to say that in 6 months that I read around here, you already impressed me few times. This one included. I can't believe how much passion you have for your customers. It is really unique and I really respect that.

If it's based on past performance, I think Phil's about to get a truckload of free swag. That guy's contributed more in the last few years than anybody I can think of.
 
Phil is the King of RED Family contributors. you need a full time job to test And share what he has done for us. And he has done It anyway... For free!!!

Apologies beforehand to Phil... but I think Phil has gained from his association with RED sufficiently to have been well rewarded for his service. The man is so busy that he even disappears for hours at a time from REDuser. '-)

What I'm saying is, we have ALL benefited from Phil's special relationship with RED and through that relationship Phil has become known throughout the industry. Just getting the use of Jarred's 8k camera to do the sword short is a pretty big reward.

I'm hoping the Mardi Gras beads go to the ones who struggle to be here and whose career's are furthered by RED's rewards, no matter if that be a module, an accessory thrown in for their module, a free camera upgrade... whatever.

Phil's deserving, yes... but he would probably already have the item given him and would simply bronze the gift and put it on his mantle as a trophy.
 
This thread has been a great source of entertainment for me and it just keeps getting better. Who saw that twist from Jarred coming? I know I didn't.

Fucking coolest thing I've ever heard!!!

My Scarlet-W allocated (but I waited too long to pay, which works out fine, as the Raven priority means we can move into our studio/insert stage more easily this month).

But for the record, I think this Robin Hood give back is DOPE.

From the NAB booth full of Third Party vendors, to this gesture of thanks, there is an AMAZING spirit of generosity and growth right now at RED.

The rest of the industry better watch out - companies with this level of IQ and EQ tend todo very great things.

Hi Jarred, any chance any of us who switched from ordering the SW straight from RED to ordering it through a dealer (retailer) be included in the consideration for the Scarlet W to Weapon MG switch? I had my order through RED and was advised to switch to one of the dealers to get allocated quicker. I did the switch and now after hearing this, I wish I hadn't. :) Thanks a bunch for all the fantastic work and Happy Mother's day to you and the RED team.

Hahaha. This was like watching an episode of Oprah for a second there. "And you get a Weapon, and you get a weapon, and you. you get a Weapon too!!". This forum has got to be the most entertaining ones I've been a part of in a while. Thanks Red team for making it that interesting. Btw I'm not kissing ass like many others after reading that post. I'm good with paying my way. But Hah! damn this is good stuff!!!

Love it - really happy to support a company with that kind of attitude, such a change from the big manufactiurers! Can't wait to get my Raven now, fingers crossed for this month but honestly I don't really mind waiting, my old cam still works fine, I'll sell it as soon as my Raven arrives and enjoy the hell out of it even more.

Looking forward to being part of the RED family.

Hey, haven't been around this thread a while, are there any news concerning the one's that already have been allocated but still didn't get their camera? The guys over at RED UK seem to be really busy and couldn't tell me about my Scarlet-W order in detail and what I'm about to expect soon. Thanks in advance, Gerrit!

WOW! Looks like you got to shoot your film this month on RED after all! Congrats again, I could feel the collective sweat and nervousness the past few months with you since we had similar time stamps. You got taken care of with a bonus!

Reflecting back I hope I didn't seem to pushy on the forums either, but my Rep seems to be pretty confident I'll be getting a loaner this week for my multiple shoots in May so I am beyond stoked! Super excited for DSMC2 though. Wish I could have chimed in a little bit more in this thread, but was busy graduating (definitely more excited about the Red though hehe).

That's an incredible gesture! Congratulations to those of you on the list :) And for those who didn't get upgraded, whichever camera you are going to get eventually will be fantastic and worth the wait. Keep up the good work guys!

Hope to see your film in Locarno or Cannes. I'm also a Red advocate since 2008. It's a challenge here in Arri continent (Europe) to shoot something else than Arri. There are to much misinformation around the industry. Epic made my unique way of shooting raw for 4K handheld documentaries and features.

I'll also be a happy owner of MG after the camera returns to us from the upgrade.

Okay, got some feedback from my Rep in UK, it's the third time I'm told that my camera is going to be shipped on Thursday... anyone from europe in the same boat?

As an early Raven pre-order'er I decided a few weeks ago that with the wait ahead, I would take a 2 week hiatus from the forum to help pass the time. And what a good idea that was.

I don't know how to explain it, but I feel embarassed. when I read some of the shit people have written when they've let their frustration get the best of them, I genuinely feel embarassed. I don't know how else to describe it. The level of self-entitlement and me-me-me mentality...damn.

I share the frustration, I get that part. But I decided to take matters in my own hands and get pro-active about it. I've needed a Red camera, so I got one. I got a hold of a fellow user on the forum's marketplace and used my Raven budget on a battle tested Epic. And I can WARMLY recommend it. It's a hell of alot more effective than talking trash to the people who make our cameras. This particular Epic I bought is 4 years old and still killing it. Fucking KILLING it. It will do just fine while I wait for the Raven lines to mature. Hell, take your time...! I'll have my hands full with this for months to come. It's actually helped me appreciate that much more the difference between they dsmc1 and dsmc2 systems, and what there is to look forward to when I've worn this one down.

I'm so content with this Epic, that anyone out there who feels they can't wait til autumn, or summer, are welcome to come and pick up my Raven when it arrives at no extra cost. I can easily wait til later this year to pick one up when they're stocked and shelved. I've go my hands full with Leia - Epic nr. 05105.

I have an early timestamp, so shoot me a pm if you'd like to pick up my Raven in the next few months, or trade timestamps.

Hey Jarred I'm new to the Red Community and I can tell you now as much as I really wanted to get my hands on my Red Raven I really appreciate the feedback and updates which ease my tension. Just saying thank you the information means more to me knowing I will have mine one day then stressing over it have a bless day.

Oh I'm not a early adopter like some of you guys but it would be a beautiful Birthday Gift this Friday to get a Red Raven but I know it just wishful thinking cheers to you this Friday as I enjoy my day off from work with family and friends.
