Good question. I love the 135mm length, as mentioned earlier in this thread. I've always loved 75 and 135mm. The 100mm is really not special to me. Either way you cut it, I love the comment that said #FirstWorldProblem

Thinking .... 18, 25, 35, 50.... could drop the 18 for the 75 and use the 15mm Zeiss CP2 ... not ideal but just cannot stretch to a 5 lens set.

Just been looking at some tests .... maybe the 21, 35, 50 & 75. The 18 is quite wide and the 21 seems like a good compromise between the 18 and 25

I also like your idea of getting 4 of the "standard" (5) lens set and then if you decide later to get a 5th, you end up with a standard set as in 18, 25, 35, 50, 75, Then your in a better position to re-sell some day to someone looking for the standard. If I were you Id go for each end 18 and 75, then choose your least favorite Focal size of the 3 in the middle.

I'll chime in with some theory...5K is a goodly amount of resolution. 6K is a wonderful amount of resolution. Which means that DRAGON gives you a 20% punch-in for free. If you follow the normal plan of 1.5x steps, but also utilize the 20% you get for free, you can afford to build a set with 1.8x steps between lenses:

14, 25, 40, 75
18, 32, 60, 100

I would not say that "move in move out" works the same, as that change a lot more things than changing the crop does.

I see a huge thing coming with the 8k sensor, one is that we quite simply can run with less focal lenghts and simply tag down on the sensor size when needed... If you think of it like having the 8k weapon and a set of for example 16,25,50, 75, 100mm

would simply with a iteration of jumping between 6k and 8k give us twice as many options to choose from with nice steps in between and the proress files on camera would all be 4k...

Same theory can apply to 5k and 6k even though the reslution hit is a bit more visible especially when zooming into the wides where it becomes more apparent.

but simply a wide lens can not really be replaced where a tighter lens can be mimicked quite accurately by just croping the sensor size and as dragon works today, 5k and higher bit rate is not always a step down in quality compared to 6k and the forced lowered bit rate it comes with.

So simply put I would personally prefer to have the 16 in the set but for rental purposes I would go for the 18 as those rental clients usually do not have any idea of what actually happens when switching between resolutions etc.

Yes, but...that only works if MPs can cover out to 8K, which I haven't heard anybody say. Happy to be proved wrong!

OTOH, high-quality FF35 or VV glass can give exactly these benefits. If we take 6K as the gold standard and 8K as bonus, then instead of the 20% bonus that 6K/5K gives us, we get a 33% bonus. Again, using 1.5X as our step, plus 4/3 bonus, we get a 2x step function:

12, 24, 50, 100 for the super-wide crowd
14, 27, 50, 100 for the wide crowd
16, 32, 65, 135 for the normal crowd
18, 35, 75, 150 for the slight tele crowd
