  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

MARVEL’S "GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2" to be shot on RED 8K WEAPON

Cool

Cool

Congratulations!

...hope Red also will be able to make a dent in high-end european cinema the coming year. The company in Munich does not make bad cameras, but should it be to only legitime choice for high-end work on this side of the Atlantic? Hope Red are able to get the same good connection to production crews/producers and DoPs in Europe as they seem to have in the US. A "monopoly" situation here will not benefit anybody in the long run.

Anyway, looking forward to reading more stories of DSCM2 adoption in production the coming months, and hopefully justify buying a couple in the end...

Clarifying - So the 8k Weapon does not have higher specs with 6k?

Awesome news about GOTG.
It is still a Dragon sensor. To achieve those numbers at 8k is much, much, more difficult than it would appear. Wait until the next sensor (whatever they decide to call it....FlameThrower or something) and you will see those numbers go up. But it should be noted that just designing the kind of electronics to make this possible at 8k is a fantastic advance.

I knew about the tests in Atlanta and I was crossing my fingers that everyone would sign off on this. I am so excited about this news J, that I cannot even express it. I believe the lenses will be the PV 70mm glass?

Big congrats and this ushers in another era much as the Red One did many years ago.

Bonne Année,

Peter

call me stupid, but i love that movie, just couple days ago watched it again :), so excited about V2, director, cast and now shot in 8K, man, can't wait to see what W8K does!

That is the coolest news EVER. Incredible.
Its truly remarkable that you are coming out with a 8k sensor. We missed the Dragon upgrade with a sliver but we will be back in the 8k game, that I promise!

Are there any news of any cinema moving towards 8k or 6k for output? Feels like there is still a bit too much 4k and even 2k going around.
Once again congrats!
/Andreas

This is AWESOME! Cant wait to see it in action!

asked this to james gunn hundred times on recent facebook broadcast. He told they were doing test between cameras and cant give out a brand name yet..
Now i hear they choosed RED !!! YAYYYY
Its gonna be awesome year for us..

Congrats my friend!

Kinda figured there was already a movie being shot with 8k sensor on the quiet. But I guess shooting 8k is something a production would want to test extensively before committing so that explains the lag between announcement and early test case. This should get the movie a mention in Wikipedia as being first?

Great news for the present and the future.
