Just finished a cut with the Martin + Osa (high-end American Eagle clothing company) client. All Shot in 4k red at 16x9. Had a ton of issues but finally got it all finished. this is the short :60 cut. there is much longer cut. for download speed purposes, i only display the compressed mp4 online.

Feel free to check out any thing else ive done. Most of it is HDV but now that ive used the RED ill never go back (as long as the work flow improves).

Beautiful work, really nice models too, looked great - Blown out highlights never looked better - What lenses did you guys use? How did you work with 16x9 files? thanks for sharing

The line up for talent was well selected. Who ever did the casting certainly has an eye.

DogDay.

A real beautiful people and work, also the clipped highlights, as Richard said, are part of RED styling.

gotta say man, good idea but you fell flat. The edit does not flow well...feels a bit scattered. Also the composition of the shots are lacking, hand held is fine but you still need purpose and great framing...I think it would all be far better without the high frequency camera bumps that are artifacts of long lens hand held without using some off frame rate to slow it down. Also your blowing out all your highlights creating a very "video" look to the piece - not flattering to the caliber of talent your shooting. You really need to work on the color time of the shots that are blown out, you may still get it looking good even though lots of stuff is blown.

Not putting your work down, just helping.

I always sensed a strange connection thanks for putting your finger on it for me...

I am on my second one also..."Just when you think your out, they pull you back in" The first one was Satan incarnate and the second my current woman my salvation.

Maybe we have met, have you been here in Stockholm?

Not sure about this "blown highlights" thing. Almost sounds like it you think it's something to aim for as part of the look! It is one of my concerns with RED, there seems to be a lot of clipped highlights in many of the clips on REDUser. Am I right in thinking that a lot of it could be avoided by underexposing and protecting the highlights (at least just below the 100% level) and then pulling up shadow detail, or would this bring in too much noise?
I have seen the same situation in the Phantom HD, where you have to accept a bit of a happy medium as it's just not possible to knock the exposure down enough to preserve all highlights and still give enough shadow information to be able to pull it out from the RAW. It doesn't seem to cope with it quite so well as say a Varicam. Not a critcism of Phantom or RED, just an observation.

RED has plenty of range for a digital sensor. It's all how you shoot it.

more range then Panasonic yes.

How are these spots being edited? Are they going through REDCINE at all, or pulled directly in FCP with proxies and rendered? Highlights could be a result of how it was shot combined with perhaps not processing through REDCINE. Just a guess.

Great pictures, handheld style? I love it, it is a concept to tell: It was just taken spontaneously, like you shoot a diary with your pocket camera. I like that in this case. And I can't see any video footage, it's film. What I don't like: pictures over each other in handheld, there I agree with obin.

it is the dissolve cuts that really bother me on the edit, like you say pictures over each other handheld looks really bad.
