  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Mark Pederson 007...

Lots of eyeballs on that - for lots of hours. Very effective. We figured out the sticker thing from that other company ... Panavision.

Mark, what monitor is that? Are you using an AJA HD-SDI to HDMI? And is Epic outputting 1080p over single 3G HDSDI?

I've been meaning to ask this for years. what is the device on top of the matte box in the first pic that looks like a little pair of binoculars? I see it so often on RED cameras but have no idea what it does

Cinetape. Sonar based range finder. You will also notice a small black box on the side of the matte box with red numbers displayed on an LCD. Feet and inches. Depending on the shot the cinetape readings might be garbage, or they might save your life.

The panasonic 2550's are amazing. Everyone should own one.

Shawn - that is HD-SDI to my favorite on-set monitor - Panasonic 2550 25" -

Hi Mark,
Not sure if you've ever looked at casing up your monitors but www.Case-Design.co.uk make a nice case for that monitor (Lemsford Cases in the UK also make a similar case). It comes with a spigot that attaches beneath the case and can be mounted on C-Stands or other. It also comes with a sunshade too. I don't know if these cases are used much in the US but they're pretty much commonplace in the UK wherever a Panasonic monitor is being used on set. The front and rear come off of the case so you can get to it. Piccy attached.
Cheers
Paul

3G 1080p. and it's good. real good.

Well, I've already seen 1001 pictures of different people, on different threads, using the epic with a 100 different lenses, but have not seen a single picture of what they are shooting at... is this some sort of conspiracy? :-)

Okay - here's 29 more EPIC R3Ds from just "point and shoot" testing.

(empire_state + milano)

everything empire_state shot on an Ultra Prime
everything milano shot on Optimo Rouge 16-42

I'll be posting a bunch more stuff and motion stuff + HDRx as promised - some recent exciting shoots are not cleared for posting yet - and I have to respect our clients.

Much more coming, and a few surprises - very soon I promise.

Thanks so much for sharing these R3D files mr. Pederson. They look stunning! It's amazing how clean the nightshot of NYC looks at 2000 ISO.

Wow, those empire state shots are amazing, I can't believe how much detail there is in the blacks. You could almost grade them to make it look as if it was a day shot instead of a night shot.

We are coordinating a shoot for EPIC 3D aerials of the city - day and night shots. Should be SICK.

Looks like I have a whole bunch of new desktop backgrounds! Thanks Mark you're the man!
