  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

MARK... Meet your new roommate...

Kudos to a company that takes care of things like this. I'm impressed.

As for Melvin... my wife says 'you play with the camera dear... leave Melvin to me!'

Grrrr. Dear, I think we need to talk...

Im defs a fan of the lighting. Excellent work. You guys wouldn't happen to have a shot of the set-up by any chance?

+1 on the poster. Melvin, 0007, Logo and "Size Matters". Checking red.com/store right now.

I just want to say ... is it just me ... or is this picture REALLY AWESOME?

+1 !!!

I too want the poster of this.

Detail, lighting, creative, grade/processing ... an awesome shot. Melvin is going to get an agent.

Melvin needs no agent...

Anyway, congrats on #007, Mark!

Glad you liked it.. I lit this pretty quick and simple.

5k tungsten Fresnel blasting through a 12 x 12 1 stop silk on the right, 6k tungsten 24" spacelight triple diffused right above snooted down a few feet with black wrap , a little tweenie spotlight on the camera from beside camera and a rear 1k Fresnel (non-difused) as a hair light top behind the background just off camera left. All Mole Richardson heads.

It's funny that 12 thousand watts is your "quick and simple" setup :)

ha ha yeah agree... but you could do the same with much lower sources. its those damn 20 year old spacelights that are so hard normally you need to triple diffuse it and at that point the 6000 watts really looks like 1000 watts. and the 12x12 silk...the 5k is so far back to flood the whole thing, it looses alot of light.

But you are right.. I think I have been hanging around the big boys way too long to think 12,000 watts is "easy". And those damn RED WAGON power strips with 100 x 20 amp plugs distorts reality a little :) When you have 20 lights plugged into them it looks like the glass is only 20% full :)

Swap all those lights out with soft fluoros or LED's.. and you could probably get close to the same thing :)

AWESOME !!!!!!! Don't you just Love the People @ Red !!!!!!!
