  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

March shipment Update - Weapon, Scarlet-W, Raven

Just letting everyone know that I ordered the Mg Sidekick and DSCMC2 Base expander pack on Jan. 22 and they were delivered yesterday. I was afraid that I was going to get my Scarlet-W brain first and it would sit on my desk as a $10K paper weight. Looks like that won't be the case!

Ordered my cam on January 1st. Talked to RED and they said for me to not hold my breath for March. They said maaaaaaybe by the end of April or the beginning of May. I guess I won't see my cam before NAB. :-/

That's fine. I'll keep working with my BMCC 2.5K. Gets the job done for the client until I can really step it up with team RED!

Did you get the V-mount expander?
 
Nope. The Base expander, not the v-mount. I'm an anton bauer boy. Going with wooden camera's cabless AB mount back. I was one of the first to order. They say that should be end before the end of the month.

Every week of patience gets us closer! :-)

Just got my base expander also. Scarlet-w goes back on set tomorrow.
 
Awesome Matthew! So.....is Scarlet-W everything and more than all of us in line are eagerly awaiting for?
I feel like I'm in a long, super backed up line for the hot new roller coaster at a theme park, and you are leaving the exit of the ride just yelling and cheering how fun and awesome it was. Is this an accurate picture? lol

Also, what batteries are you running, and how long do they last? I have the Dionic HCX batteries and hoping to get more than a 3 hour life on them.

Those batteries will get you about 100minutes.
 
Dang! RED is thirsty! My BMCC lasts for 9 hours with that battery. I knew the RED would suck more power, but not that much more! Whew!

A good rule of thumb is a little less than 1 minute per Wh. So 80 for a Dionic 90. 120 for a Hytron 140, etc.

BMCC consumes 18 watts compared to 65 watts for a DSMC.

Matt, thanks for the responses! CAN'T WAIT to join the club. It's been 10 long years watching RED take the cinema world by storm as I sit on the bench. COACH! I'm ready to go in!!! :ihih:
 
The price of the Raven going up is very easy to overlook in this thread which is mostly about shipping updates. Plus, the "spec increase" thread specifically said the price would *not* be going up.

So I'm going to say that's an announcement that's very easy to miss and probably deserves its own thread.

Meaning that there would be no increase at that immediate moment, for people who have already put down deposits. I believe that RED is fair to increase the price after the dust has settled and the camera has been released.

Jim always said: "Everything is subject to change... Including our camera specs and delivery dates"
 
Dam, I deposited January 28 15:56. I see I'm probably not gonna be getting it till next month or later. Demand is so damn high, I should have known better to for it earlier.

Trying not to get my hopes up... I don't think they've sent out any Base I/O Package allocation emails yet, have they?

Sounds like they haven't gotten through Raven switchers for the S-W Brain yet, so none of the ones we've seen shipped have made a dent on the list for package preorders. Once the package allocation emails start, they will be working through Raven switchers and Scarlet-D upgraders. I preordered my Scarlet-W (as a non-Raven, non-Scarlet-d) within a few hours of them opening, and I'm still not sure if I'll see my camera before April.

I'm telling myself that if I keep my expectations low then I'm setting myself up to be pleasantly surprised! :laugh:
 
No email here. To think they're going to get through all Raven to Scarlet-W preorders before the end of the month seems a bit slim...

I'm talkin' about March 17th when Raven allocations kick off... (Raven Base I/O preorder) But here's to hoping we get some Scarlet allocations too!
