Great texture. Exceptional latitude. Simply my favorite camera ever.
5k at 96. Love it.

It's a tiny (640x338) heavily compressed JPEG -- what do you expect? The shot in the dark doesn't look special. Especially on the young lady, the posted image reminds me of cell phone camera pictures, her face is just crawling with unwanted noise. Would you use this shot for a film?

....as you go up in FPS the shutter adjusts for you, but coming back down it does not, if you forget......then, you forget.
I've also forgotten to set the compression back after over-cranking

Yes , the full sized image looks much better and cleaner, no compression, so this could be used if the scene called for such a "mood" shot.
If you remove the operator error of a high shutter (96), the image would be stellar!! The image in the LCD looked pretty good, I should have seen that the shutter was at 96. If this would have been an different camera it would not even been usable, or you would have immediately noticed it in the LCD. That is an issue when changing FPS, as you go up in FPS the shutter adjusts for you, but coming back down it does not, if you forget......then, you forget.
I've made that same error already.

I had to make the mistake in order to be mindful of it... I'm just that kind of guy!
Luckily, I made both of those errors on a test shoot, and not with a client's footage!
I looked at it for what it was... a shot in the dark! I was impressed. Sure, I realize that it was a compressed image... but having just put my order in for an Epic M today, it's great to know it has that ability.
You excitement for the camera is contagious, shooting in the natural moon light has always been an unrealistic dream of mine. But we are one step closer. Has anyone had success shooting the full moon with a zoom lens? As far as I understand it, this is as much a lens issue as a camera issue and I bet with the full moon two nights ago, someone was out there trying.
A cell phone camera has that ability too, but you are not spending 50k for a shot in the dark. You are getting much more. Hope the epic lives up to your expectations.
+1 James! I took some footage in downtown Oklahoma City, It was dark, real dark and got this out of the EPIC-M and I was shooting 24fps @ 96 shutter (on accident). So much to love! The .TIF grab is 79MB and this is a 1600x844 down res.![]()
while we were having dinner a guy came over to our table and asked "Is that the new RED camera? Can I take a picture?" It's like having dinner with a rock star:drool:
