Looks Alex is starting to slowly get his counts back up. The shoot is tentatively scheduled for September 30th if Alex can get his counts up high enough before then.
The Director of Development from Make-A-Wish Foundation has contacted me to be a part of a very cool gift ceremony in Orange County, CA.
Below is the full creative concept.
Alex, a 7-year-old boy who has Leukemia, has a wish of being Robin, from the days of Batman and Robin. He has absolutely no idea his dream is about to become a reality thanks to the Anaheim Police Department. The premise is the Riddler broke out jail along with some henchmen, other cowboys and some pirates. Anaheim and surrounding areas under attack and police Chief heard about little boy named Alex who has super hero powers.
The P.D. will arrive at Alex's home with 5 police cars and The Bear (their SWAT tank vehicle). The Chief will say that the police department is in need of a super-hero to help stop the mayhem on the streets. They come back to station, the chief swears Alex in, gives Alex a Robin costume and then Batman joins the team.
The chief briefs them on their mission, providing mug-shots of all the criminals, including a question-marked mugshot for the Riddler. Once briefed, they head to Knotts Berry Farm into Wild West Stunt Show area (where the Cowboys are hanging out). The chief let's Robin (Alex) know his special power is that when he crosses his arms, everyone freezes. Batman aides Robin in detaining these criminals, then they head off to the Pirate Adventure.
More things are staged at this location, making it out to seem that the Pirates have been stealing loot, so Robin crosses his arms, they all freeze, and Batman and Robin place them in the on-site jail cell. Once detained, they drive to the Fullerton Airport.
Batman and Robin board a police helicopter to get a better view of the city. They fly over Knotts and Pirates where they captured the already detained criminals, fly over D-Land then over Robin's house, fly over a police facility in Ahaheim hills to see a giant question mark chalked on ground. This is the Riddler's location.
They then fly to Anaheim Stadium where he will board the bat-mobile. They drive to the ? location. Once on site, Pyrotechnics happen, revealing The Riddler and His Henchmen. They capture them and throw them in the SWAT vehicle.
They all head back to police department for hero’s welcome in parking lot with a stage and approx 200 people.
I will be the DP/Editor of the project, and I'm calling all RED Epic/Scarlet/One operators in the Orange County/LA area who want to be a part of something really cool and help me tell a young-boy's heart-felt story. I wouldn't say it's more than a couple hours of your time, however, I would love 2 other operators to come with me and follow Robin throughout the day, so 7am ish to 4pm ish. Ideally, in addition, I would have at least 1 camera crew at each location (already staged and ready for each arrival) since I will be following alongside Robin the entire time. Myself and the 2 other operators will be in a very run-n-gun scenario, constantly being transported from 1 location to the next with Batman and Robin.
Everyone involved is donating their time so there wouldn't be any pay, but the joy you'll feel witnessing something this special far outweighs the benefit that any compensation could provide.
PM me if you'd like to be a part of something memorable.
On a side note, MAXX digital will be providing all the storage space for editing as well as for archival purposes for Make-A-Wish. If any other company wants to donate services of any kind, do let me know.
