I was on a shoot last night with my Epic-W + Base I/O Expander + Wooden Camera Cable-Less Blueshape V-Mount adapter and my camera shut off between setups. I initially thought that something had been jostled loose, but after retightening everything and eliminating a dead battery as a potential cause, my camera would still not boot up. The D-Tap ports still worked just fine (powering my Wireless Follow Focus and Ghost Eye transmitter). Out of ideas, I removed the WC so I could check connections and maybe re-seat it when I saw this:

Luckily I was in a studio and could continue the shoot with A/C power...but WTF?! Has anybody else had this kind of issue with the WC mount? Honestly, this completely baffles me. I'm outside of my regular return period but I'll be contacting Wooden Camera this week to see about potential solutions.

I went with this setup so I have the flexibility to remove one to use on a gimbal or be more lightweight. I decided to go with the WC because of the additional D-Taps & USB port over RED's own. But I don't want to risk this happening again if I were to replace with a new one.

I've seen this with RED modules too. All are susceptible.

Do we know what the cause of this is? It seems kind of strange to just say "well, stuff like this happens" especially when it's all brand new equipment. And does this fall under any kind of warranty or some such coverage?

I've oddly not experienced this and I've been on DSMC2 Brains for a long while.

I don't know what's up, but so make sure that the contacts are clean when attaching Modules or Expanders.

Hmm okay. I suppose that's good news. Wooden Camera is going to be repairing mine, which is good too. I just want to feel safe knowing that this isn't going to happen again.

My module has pretty much stayed attached since I got my camera...so it's hard for me to believe that the contacts were dirty.

Literally just bought one last week and have been experiencing these issues all day today. Thought similar things, and mostly became worried it was a camera-related issue. Glad to hear that it's not just me ! (Granted, I'm not completely glad because it's still a bummer.)

Please let me know what WC comes back with ! I'm going to be opening mine back up this weekend to see if there were any jostled connectors. I found better connectivity when I pushed the weight of the unit up before screwing in. (Rather than letting it sag down a few cm.)

Contact WC asap, they'll take care of this, it happened on mine too before upgrading to the DSMC2 V-Lock I/O Expander.

Good to know they made it right. Yeah, I've already contacted them and just waiting for instructions on how to send in the repair. I called the store in Burbank and funny enough the guy who answered was actually in the middle of reading my post here, haha.

I know Wooden Camera to have good Customer Service, so it wasn't really that part I was worried about. I'm just worried about a repeat scenario with this.

And at least in the meantime I have a D-Tap to LEMO cable I can use to power via battery until the repair is complete.

I just left the Wooden Camera store in Burbank not too long ago and just wanted to put a little note here about my experience in case somebody finds this thread.

The gentleman at the store (I forgot his name, whoops!) was very helpful and immediately knew what my issue was. He proceeded to fix the plate right there on the spot with really no questions asked. He replaced the PCB board inside with one that apparently has a new firmware.

I'm hoping that was the actual root cause of my issue and I don't see it again--especially because I'm renting out the kit this weekend. I would hate for my renter to have issues with it. *fingers-crossed*

That board was supposed to be mailed out to you. Did you buy it from WC?

I ordered it from WC via Amazon.
