  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Major Announcement- July 6th

Is that the gay game show episode. Did the X factor judges just comment on their debut (particularly Kirk's)?

I know I'm not the only one that loves clues so we appreciate the hint! Since it's being posted here as well as other places, I'm hoping it's something affordable to the masses because we already know that whatever it is, it will be awesome!

If you got the money, talk to me. One f my design studies in recent years was a proposal for drones in the upper atmosphere beyond aircraft (tricky). Another was a replacement for satelites going back decade or two. Apart from other things like multiplexing half a million people on a smaller tower at once.

Out of interest, what is it you actually do?

Do you shoot stuff? Do you/did you work in production? Only really ever heard you talking about how many things were your ideas but I don't know what you have actually engineered or produced.

Haha, whatever Jim announces you can be sure that Wayne has already invented it!

Why hasn't anyone invested any money in your ideas? Think about that.

Nonsense, that rarely happens. If you put your hands to enough things, sometimes somebody else will find you there.

Because they don't know what they are talking about (plus I leave the expensive stuff to find myself).

Words of wisdom, skeptics are blind fools when they know what they don't know.

I look forward to all those 'geniuses' going places previously visited years ago, yet again, repeatedly.

You know, today I was out, and thought about how complex it is to live and how to live simply without over taxing resources. Different things I think about over the decades. Technology is too complex and requires a whole infrastructure of support and knowledge beyond what users think about. Digital technology is very complex in this. The circuites are beyond merely complex. But I realised that passive technology could solve this. There's another passive encryption encoding solution forming in my mind right now, in response to the thought that encrypted communications was a fly in the ointment. I then realised that I had many solution paths over the years towards a passive technology. It will be an exciting notion, I can feel solutions there, brewing in the back of my mind, popping up. However, that gets into another post I wanted to post last week on the potential physical nature of the the subconscious and creativity.

Probably enough. Let's stick to the announcement.

Ok Jim. I had come to ask about how much credit we should put aside on our cards for a deposit?

Thanks.

Is it just me or do you any of you kinda hope it's not a consumer/ prosumer grade camera?
I know this will make me sound elitist but I kinda like knowing that I'm one of the only people in my industry shooting on RED.

I know all the arguments against this line of thinking but it just kinda make my experience feel all that more special.

But if it is a new camera for the masses then I know RED will make a truck-load of money from it.

Would be cool, but I really think it is not a camera.

Let's see, Jim has already invented new ways to see. Maybe he is reversing course to work on unseeing. That would be interesting. And useful. The Cloak of Invisibility.....

Can't wait for this! Hopefully its a small form factor. Always thought about e-mailing to ask about a smaller stills like camera that utilizes the redRAW format. Would be great for recces and such!

Jarred generously invested in a project I was heavily involved in 20-some years ago, thank you!

Since then (a few Red cameras later:) like many of us I've put a fair stake into Red and am looking forward to jumping on-board their biggest project to date.

Certainly sounds like an entirely new technology.

Not only/just a new product.

I'm VERY curious. And totally excited. I love new technologies and endless possibilities.

I'm especially excited for Jim and everyone involved.

I never expected this new thing to be under RED, i figured it would be something under a different/new company, but the fact that it's a new RED Digital Cinema Product is very interesting.

I don't think it's a phone, (maybe a device of that size or an accessory that works with your phone?)

Jim commented it would be priced so "we can buy more than one", that leads me to think that we are going to want more than one which is interesting.

"VR/AR are obsolete" could definitely be taken into this new thing being the something like that, but that blows it out of the water, or it could be a red herring (no pun intended), but it would be interesting to see what it is that makes these technologies "obsolete", it would be incredible if we had photo realistic imagery transmitted to our RED's (or any other camera), Special Effects/MoCap in real time, very similar to what VR kit will accomplish in the next iOS, but bigger and better.

Jim has a passion for cameras (he has the collection to prove it) so I think he wants to give, not just us, but anyone with a camera, something amazing. What that is, we're just a few days away from finding out.

Edit: I'm really leaning on a smart device of sorts, purely dedicated to Photo/Video, with it's own "RedOS". Not a phone necessarily, but a piece of hardware with it's own RED software, and/or potentially a computer... or some sort of wearable.

Edit 2: "It does not impact our RED cameras"... but maybe it does impact others?
