  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

"Magic Motion"...

I think all of you that are trying to inflate Scarlet prices for avoiding others to buy the same gear as you, you just fear your competitors and don't care about the success of this project.

Yeah. I am sure you are right. :frown2:

On the contrary, a vast majority sees that statement as completely accurate. It is impressive like a few here try to decide the company's route when this minority doesn't represent more than a small percentage of units, not yet sold. Show me the money, not just words. But above all, do not show off, please be modest.

2/3" with up to 18 stops of DR, in a complete kit for around the same price as a bare AF100? Hell yeah! Jim just sold me another camera or two.

Hell yeah, man. I don't think there's any doubt it's a great deal. Hell, if they'd announced a $1000 price hike WITHOUT adding features it'd still be a great deal.

The issue for me is absolute value, not relative. In other words, the camera is definitely worth $6k but I'm not sure I can come up with $6k. (or rather that, as an amateur/student making zero ROI, I'm not sure I can justify spending $6k on ANY camera, no matter how amazing it is)

I suspect you're right though that for every person like me there are several who jumped ON the bandwagon after the HDRx announcement.

How does "Magic motion" affect the motion of the image specifically? I understand the extended DR but how is it improving motion?
I've wondered the same thing... I've come to the conclusion it's just some sort of magic.

The mixture of the very fast shutter info captured in the image creating a sharp section with a the regular 180 degree shutter giving regular filmic blur creates a different look, that anecdotally so far is more visually 'pleasing'

Why this actually is would probably require a doctorate level thesis on the way the brain samples the image (probably something about being able to recognize the points of sharp detail amongst the motion blur working in a way similar to how the eye usually works)

"... a vast majority?" - figures, please?

...show off?" - explain?

You are certainly entitled to your own perceptions; just don't try to pass them off as facts, thank you.

What about the number of those who could buy 3K for $3k? Definitely a vast number no?

...show off?" - explain?
I don't think it's nice a few posts from those who intend to place Red as an elitist digital cinema camera company for rich pockets, professional pockets or not.

Thank you for your understanding about to be entitled to express my perceptions. On the rest, numbers are only facts, vast numbers too. Satisfied now?

I guess we are still not agreeing on what constitutes a "fact," what the term "vast" means, and how those "vast number" of posts might be interpreted. I guess we'll have to leave it at that.:bored:

It is also a fact that number of sales is not the only thing which affects product's price.

Following this logic I could say that if they priced it $29.95 they would sell even more.

No...flash memory would have to be $1.99. They would sell ten million units.

Vast number of posts means vast number of words. But vast number of sales means cash flow. This is a fact.

Well, you've got me there. I really have no response since I really can't figure out what it is you are claiming. I am sure it makes complete sense to you. To me, not so much.
