  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Macbook Pro Retina for RED editing on CS6?

I think the biggest factor of "retina" on OSX that gets completely ignored is that there has finally been a large step made towards resolution independence and dynamic resolution for independent parts of an application. An App like FCPX is displaying UI elements at an appropriate "User size" (UI elements are at 2x size but are at a common easy to see/click size) but it's Viewer is displaying at 1:1 resolution so you can see a whole 2k clip pixel for pixel. The same goes for Aperture, and I am sure all the third-party apps will take advantage of this soon enough. An entire application no longer has to be developed to work at a set resolution, and every single element of the UI can now be flexible depending on what type of content is being displayed so it is shown to the user in the way they want to see it. The development time involved to do things like this is quite straightforward since Apple chose to double up in each dimension, and the consistent path between phones, tablets, and computers makes it even more exciting.
