I have been testing M-Logic's Thunderbolt RED Rocket enclosure for 3 weeks now and I am super impressed. I keep hearing about problems with the other enclosures but I can tell you the M-Logic is as solid as it gets. I use it with REDcine-X, Premiere, AE, Speedgrade, and Resolve and I honestly forget I have it plugged in because it just never gives me problems. I have tested it on a MacBook Air, Retina MacBook, and the new 27" iMac and I get perfectly smooth playback at 1/2 res on all.

I put together a little video demonstrating my super mobile Thunderbolt offload/playback system if you want to see the M-Logic in action.

If anyone has any questions or tests they'd like me to do let me know!

Thanks for share.
Is it for sale? I missed it.
Cheers

Seems a bit expensive for a one slot expansion chassis. For $100 more you can get the Sonnet and have 2 slots if you don't use the SDI breakout. The only real benefit I see with the MLogic is its slightly smaller form factor.

The small size is definitely a huge factor for someone like me. My friends who have Sonnets and Magmas have had issues with those devices. There are a couple threads here on REDuser complaining about problems. Based on my testing I think the M-Logic is way more stable. Not surprising when you look at who is behind it.

Thus another reason to kill the Mac Tower

Any issues in the past with Magma and Sonnet was not with the units. It was software and have been resolved a while back. So in all fairness to your observation of it just working out of box, I'm pretty sure the MLogic would have had the same problems if it had come out many months ago.

Yes it was an issue with Apple breaking things with the OSX 10.8.2 update, which has been fixed for a while now. My Sonnet chassis has been rock solid.

Oh, good to hear! What do you usually find yourself putting in the 2nd slot?

You seem to be on the inside track with these guys. When on earth are these actually going to ship? Look like people have been waiting since last year. Now they are saying this week..but c'mon is already Thursday.

wasn't this supposed to be out last year? What is taking so long if you've been using it for so long and it just works (Tonaci has had one since NAB last year)? makes no sense to me.

Bob,

What enclosure do you have? Do you feel there's a big advantage to having more than one slot available?

Yeah I used Tonaci's Alpha version back in September and it was working just as well. Maybe an FCC holdup? That's what's delayed a lot of RED products.
