Jim has gone his longest between posts for atleast the last three months. I think we are either about to get VERY exciting news or VERY disappointing news. Highest high or lowest low...

telling us to pay attention and then vanishing? arrrrgghhhh! :mad2: hehehe, i love Red but they'll certainly drive ya bonkers from time to time.

There are two ways to deal with this:

If it's in your hands, plan your shoots accordingly.

If it's not... Then don't.

There is no middle ground. Except perhaps a fedex tracking number, but even then I would not stake a shoot on FEDEx without a few days as a buffer!

I put seeing my Epic (#327) at 50/50 this year. I put seeing scarlets shipping at 50/50 for NAB next year.

Jim - a couple of months ago, right here on REDuser, I wagered $100 that Scarlet would be shipping before the end of 2010. Help me out here. I'll split my winnings with you!!

It's technically September. So we're going to move from Epic stage 1, through Stage 2 & 3 &4 and ship Scarlets in three months?

Ummm Terry?

:hand::hand: :cryin:

actually, no, it's technically August. August 26th to be more precise.

Really not sure why you assume that all stages of Epic will be "through" before Scarlet ships. Last I looked, they weren't the same camera. And, unless Jim decides to assemble them all at the same facility, with the same people, there is no reason they can't be produced concurrently. In fact, don't you think that Epic production, RED One production and production of the the various Scarlet variations might all take place simultaneously in the future. Something tells me the folks at RED can walk and chew gum all at the same time.

When I made the wager, which I might be only slightly less inclined to make now (I might want odds!) I believed that Tattoo would end around the end of August. So, depending on what happens in the next couple of weeks, I might not be all that far off on that. We'll see, won't we. :thumbup1:

And I really think you are way too pessimistic thinking Scarlets "might" only be shipping by NAB. But, like I said, we will see, won't we. And, to be sure, I am only talking about the Scarlet Fixed at this point.

I agree, some kind of announcement (good or bad, perhaps both) is brewing. Regardless, I think it will involve "changes"; it seems like RED clams up once major changes are inevitable, presumably because during the interim, RED doesn't know exactly what the next plan will be.

Here's hoping the changes are good! :lurk5:

Now that's one I wouldn't bet on. :001_unsure:

I remember feeling that way about scarlet last year when I was booking a plane ticket for a fall of filming in Africa. My business could not survive without one. A 7d went out with me on that plane to Africa. This fall I just booked another plane ticket, again I can't live with out Scarlet, and unfortunately a second 7d I purchased today will be joining me.

Me bitter, hell no. I know when it comes it is going to be great. When it's ready, I'll be the first in line to buy a couple. If the other camera makers catch up... well I may just only buy 1. Just happy the industry is moving forward, and I hope jim is rewarded for being the guy for doing it. As for buying a couple of 7d's, it's business not personal.

another friday night and it has been two weeks since Jim's last post. you think he'll post tonight?

I'm really hoping for updated pricing/info on when we will be able to place a deposit for the Scarlet. The features I am sold on but news on them would be great too!

.... since IBC is coming up in Amsterdam (10-14 september) ... i wonder, if we spot the N2T over Europe soon ... :-)

Panasonic will announcing their new camera, so will Sony.... if RED isn't there they'll be missing out on European business. Its whoever gets their foot in the door first. I would expect RED to announce that the EPIC and SCARLET is good to go in a couple of months time.... even they are ready to take orders!!!

On your marks.... Get set.... GOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! :emote_head_explode:
