Hey, everybody, I'm not sure if it's possible but could an LPL mount be made for the RED One series of cameras? I've just glanced at it because of certain lens adapters showing up in my searches so I don't know if it's like a mirrorless-type mount but if it's just an adapter away from possibility, could something be made?

Yes it's possible to machine such a mount.

LPL came out well after RED One, so obviously nothing existing.

Hard to recall all the timelines, but most of the popular mirrorless mounts came out after DSMC2 as well, which is the larger complication. Shallowest mount you can use there is Leica-M and perhaps with some machining other possibilities.

Komodo solves some of that.

Well, if it is indeed possible then that could open up the world of LPL speed boosters for RED One users which could be interesting if admittedly very niche. Who wants to get machining!?

Well, I contacted Wooden Camera since they have an LPL adapter for DSMC1 & 2 but they didn't have plans for doing one for the RED One series or the Ursa 12K (thought I'd ask about that too). I sent another message to c7Adapters and haven't heard back but their mount looks nice as well for DSMC1-2. I'm reaching out to Allstarcine since their system is working great for my RED One MX and looks like one of the most comprehensive mount systems out there as I'm considering an FZ mount camera for certain things as well as possibly working with an Arri camera on our next film (more likely RED though) and they have mount options for all of those with a nice assortment of lens adapters. Hopefully one of them can do something, even if it's a dumb mount option as it's all about the lens adapter options on top of that which will make it interesting.
