Randall, Emyr, exactly. There's so many loose ends, the plot looks like Danielle Rousseau's hair.
- What was the deal with Aaron? He didn't have any effect on anything.
- Also, Walt? He had those powers, and now nothing?
- What was the light? Something inside all of us? That tells me nothing.
- Why did getting thrown down into the light turn the man in black into a smoke monster?
- Why didn't they give the man in black a freaking name?
- Why didn't the candidates (or at least, Desmond) get turned into a smoke monster when they went down there?
- How did Desmond magically know what to do when he got down there?
- How was there a stone plug keeping the light in (or out or whatever)?
- Why was the island all electromagnetic?
- What on earth was the Dharma Initiative doing there? There didn't seem to be any way of profiting off the light. And there didn't seem to be anyone that knew anything about it in the first place.
I can't even ask any more questions. It doesn't even matter. The whole thing's a giant hodge podge. It's like they just threw a bunch of mysterious and cool stuff together and didn't bother to explain any of it, and then ended it with some swelly music to get you all verklempt and forget that they didn't explain anything.
Epic fail.
Contrast that to the ending of Twin Peaks, where I was like, wtf? And then I thought about it a bit, and holy crap, that was tight. But after Lost I was like, wtf? and now I'm like, WTF?
PS- I hope it goes without saying, Shawn and everyone else who worked on it, besides the retarded plot, OMFG, amazing job. The acting, editing, cinematography, everything was just top-notch.
PPS- Shawn, good luck with the Hawaii 5-0 gig! So cool.
