  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hello everybody! I posted this on the cinematography.com forum, but I'll give it a go here as well.


Im working on a website that has the ambition to become the definite resource of all cinema lenses. With complete info, pictures, technical data and history of every lens used for shooting.
Ive come a long way but realized that I will need some help in a lot of areas. Ive reached out to a few people on the forum with great interest but I would love to hear from some more of you. I've felt for a long time that something like this is missing, and it would be so awesome to get all the known info in one place. This webiste is a community thing, and will always be free to use for everybody.


What Im looking for mostly is information and expertise in any brand, series or specialty lens. Even if you just own a rare set of lenses you might be able to pitch in some close-focus distance information or something like that.


So please, if you feel that this is something worth your time, reach out and we'll talk some more. There is a running beta of the site up already that I can show you.

Was planning on making a lens flair comparison video with all my lenses. It fascinates me greatly to see the way different lenses treat the sun at low and high apertures and I think it would be a nice resource for people to have. I will be sure to send it your way when its online!
 
why not working together guys?

and making a great resource for everyone to use freely, more complete and more user friendly than the usual spreadsheet posted above?

I want to help, Haris feel free to send me the beta details, is it based on an open source cms platform or it's a custom built solution?

Yeah its custom built. I was thinking about wiki but kind of realized that it might be limited in its use. A custom database allows you access and compare information in lots of different ways, just imagine the comparing tools you could build by well-organized information like that.
