I'm really looking forward to seeing this film! I know Soderbergh has a history with directing and shooting on Red cameras so I was wondering if this was the same case for Logan Lucky. Anyone care to chime in?

I might be wrong but I'm going to assume it was. They shot it on Leica Summilux-C Lenses if I'm not mistaken. And we all know the love for Leica and RED by a certain couple of guys.

Looks like a fun movie with a great cast.

I was looking through the tech specs and crew for Soderbergh's films in response to this thread, and found that Steven himself is listed as the DP on some of his recent films. Anyone know if this is true? Seems very unlikely

He is cinematographer and editor on a lot of his films, Schizopolis was the first one, and then he has been the DP on most of his films since.

This looks like Soderbergh's homage to the Coen brothers.

Yes, but then hitting the nail kind of sideways, leaving it kind of crooked.

I'm not getting all good vibes watching that trailer. Let's hope I'm wrong.

Admittedly, the Coen brothers themselves also failed to stem some of the over acting in 'Burn after reading' (I'm looking at you Brad Pitt, and even you Mr Malkovitch). In this trailer I get uncomfortable in several of Craig's scenes. That's never a good sign....

100% agree.

When you try to copy the Coen Brothers you get films like "The Men Who Stare at Goats". But hey, even the Coen Brother's put out "The Ladykillers"

This is what caught my eye foremost in the trailer, Hillary Swank second. The role seems like a stretching out of mr. Craig's acting ability in a fun way, and Hillary Swank just personifies what I perceived to be a badass person of the law, in some way or another.

Seems more like a Smokey and the Bandit sort of lark.

Must be shot on Dragon / Weapon with I assume STH olpf, since the highlights are quite smooth in a lot of scenes, esp. in the car. "I said no peekin'!"

The strongest words came when Craig was asked if he could imagine another film in the role. “Now? I’d rather … slash my wrists,” he replied. “No, not at the moment. Not at all. That’s fine. I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on.”

DC deserves to play this role I was happy to see him in such a different mood than everything previous. Overacting? At least he deserves it...

Source for that quote from Craig?

I don't think you can judge how over or under a performance is, until you get the full narrative. It's totally relative. Who ever would say that the performances in Dr Strangelove are overacting. Relative to what?

Pit is genius in Burn After Reading IMO. And Malkovich is beyond reproach for all time.

I haven't heard the title "Smokey and the Bandit" since...... actually never! I feel old.

The Wrap argument for the low turn out is wrong. Exit polls from only 2 weeks ago showed very high awareness but a high "wait for home video" for this title so tracking last week correctly predicted a under 10 opening. I don't think the trailer served them very well.

I think their model for keeping the marketing budget low and having everybody participate is great. Of course there's no way they actually spent $29mil making it so it should turn out ok.
