Log and Transfer Problem

Yes same clips same directory.

I trashed FCP preferences and now I get L&T to open, when adding a P2 directory everything is fine. Trying to add a RED directory ( same directories that worked a few days ago) FCP becomes iresponsive.

edit:

Just realized that Redrushes does not render any more, 1 frame per clip shows no matter where the directory is and no weird characters in the path or directory name.

This two might be related!?

Any ideas?

try reinstalling the quicktime component maybe? That would be the one item that RedRushes and the L&T plugin have in common.

Tried reinstalling every thing related to red. Tried reinstalling FCP. Tried reinstalling QT. Tried every fix of Qmaster on the net. All in vain.

Redalert will not render.
Redrushes 1 frame => 100% nothing in the output folder.
Crimson will not render with Redline.
Clipfinder does not start the render.
FCP L&T stops responding when a RED directory is chosen.
Compressor settings appear empty.

Lucky I have Redcine working like charm.

I will Reinstall my system next weekend, unless any one has a suggestion.

On my primary workstation (8*3,2Ghz MacPro w/ ATI 3870 and 10 GB ram on 10.5.6, SCSI RAID5, latest Qtime, latest RED soft)

Log and Transfer doesn't respond when prompted to add a directory.
It also won't work when dragging straight from the Finder.
Won't work with RDC nor RDM folders (nor R3D files).
RedRUSHES processes the clips but there's no output!!!
(Two weeks ago RedRushes was workin very unstable but finally doing its job!!!)

I tried on our second computer. (8*2,8Ghz, 8GB, Gforce8800, accessing RAID5 thru ethernet. NO BETA RED releases).
SAME PROBLEM.

I'm working with the 1k proxies (can't really playback propperly the 2K reference Quicktimes) but I'd have rather edited with the final 1080p delivery...
And the fact of having the same problem on two machines (the 2,8Ghz is brand new) makes me blame the software, not the machines.

Red guys please help us!

Do youhave macfus/ntfs 3G installed? It was the last thing I installed and I am looking to find somthing to blame this things for.

And no, I didn't install windows on my workstation: I have it on my Macbook pro but I had some issues with macfuse in the past with an e-SATA raid and won't install it at work.

Same problem here, I tried dragging and dropping, loading from the L&T window, nothing happens, now p2 content isnt transferring either. Worked fine last week when i tested it, now nothing happens

My RED FCP Log & Transfer is broken as well. Used To work. 8-core MacPro with 10 GB RAM, OS 10.5.6, QT 7.6, FCP 6.05. Re-installed RED QUICKTIME CODEC and RED FINAL CUT STUDIO 2 INSTALLER. Nothing happens when I navigate to RED media folder from within L&T or drag & drop into L&T. Doesn't matter whether I choose Native or ProRes422 for import. Nothing.

Just look for five hours of your free time and do so ;-D

I got used to always having a bootable clean system on a separate disk with a full "virgin"FCS install (but nothing else) around. Can save you a lot of time in such cases…

I am quite new to the mac game, how do you create such a disk, I ran time-machine just after the new install and have the b.u on a separate drive is that enough?

No, time machine is fine for day-to-day backups. But how do you know when a complex problem like this creeped in? Plus, it's no really fast when you need to reconstruct the whole system.

I'd just do clean install of system and FCS and make a backup with SuperDuper to another disk before installing anything else.

have the same problem here.... everything was working until a few days ago.... was re-installing the only hope for this?

my theory is that there is some 'cache' of some sort in the L/T and that cache is trying to update or read or something and it just hangs.....

Same here, with a 2,8 Imac, and Macbook pro 2,6, both with 4gb ram.

Got the latest FCP and quicktime ugrades. Any chance this could be related to the latest Itunes upg?. I thiks I can track it back more or less to that time.

The message I'm getting in the Log and Transfer window is:

1 clip queued - Idle

The status column shows a rotating 'cycling' icon for about 15 seconds, then the 'cycling' icon stalls/freezes. If I click on that I get a red warning icon. The tooltip popup says "Error: No Data".

This is the first time I've fooled with Log and Transfer, but this was working fine yesterday - importing two clips at separate times with all the same settings. I've made no system changes since then (no new iTunes or anything).

The clip plays in the Log and Transfer window, and seems otherwise to be okay. I've tried the various ways to 'add to queue' but none of them make a difference.

Finally - as I was trying to 'eject' volumes from L&T (to start over again) FCP crashed with the beach ball cursor. The 'Report Error' window that popped up said FCP '...quit while unresponsive. May have been caused by Red plug-in'.

I reloaded the Red plug-in for FCP and my problem went away. I don't know if it was an upgraded version or not -- I couldn't find the version of the plug-in that I had installed.

when u say 'reloaded' ur talking about just re-installing the plug-in? Specifically the link on the support page on red.com that says 'RED Final Cut Studio 2 Installer' and not the beta QT plugint?

also which window do you (or did you) see the '1 clip idle'?

no dice guys.... come to think of it... i think this started after i installed the red rushes or red cine or one of those.... do all of you have it the red software installed?
