my god that place is huge!

I Love Lucy shot in there for almost a decade. First use of a three-camera setup for a sitcom. Pretty historic stuff. There's a scale model of that set at Universal Orlando:

Excellent!

It sounds like it'll be a fun day in a great place.

can't wait.. can't wait.. can't wait.. hey michael.. am myself a loyal fanboy now?

I posted this in the other thread:

I'd love to come. I'll be flying from Maine, and could use some info on where to stay for 2 nights. This trip will be a determining factor in purchasing RED, and I am ready to GEEK OUT over the gear. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

friends don't let friends go to LAX,

Burbank all the way.

LOL... would agree with you unless you're flying Virgin America. Best domestic airline, hands down. And getting in and out of their LAX terminal is a breeze. Jet Blue out of Burbank is my close second.

Not that I am going, but according to priceline.com, I'd save about $175 going through LAX rather than Burbank. Is it really worth $175 to go through Burbank?

I gotta agree with Todd.. Virgin is pretty hard to beat, and LAX isn't as bad as it used to be. (unless you are coming in from international, but then you don't really have a choice )

my god that place is huge!

I'm going to do my bestest to be there!
Looking forward to it, but the location is manifestly not huge... keeping in mind that my point of reference is the Paramount lot. Depending on turnout parking may be... most likely will be... a problem.

It's a crap shoot. As usual.

For folks that are getting a car and don't mind 20 minutes or so of LA traffic, and want to stay close to the beach...

www.seashoremotel.com

www.baysidehotel.com

Both are typically right around $100/night. They're small, family-run joints that don't advertise. But they are both clean and nice. The Bayside is on the beach, and curiously enough is right beside Casa Del Mar... which is about $400/night. The Seashore is on Main St - great place for restaurants, bars, etc. But mellow... and 1 block from the beach.

Trust Lucas to find nice hotel deals. He even pointed me to good South African biltong supplier once :) That man knows LA.

So, when do doors open? And close? Must plan brunch & champagne beforehand and a party afterwards of course!

Alternately people could just camp out in the parking lot... kinda like the old NAB thing, right? When you pitch your tents, let us LA folks know via Reduser posts and we'll drive by and hand out warm food & drink ;)
