This was a hard shoot for me because I'm a vegetarian :001_tongue:. Anyway, this was shot with all available light on Leica R lenses. The goal was to let the food take centre stage and allow the camera to feel as natural as possible.

Vegetarian or not, nice work. I myself am not vegetarian and I now find myself hungry.... :)

You're on fire mate. love the both of them...really appetizing imagery

Hahah! I've never eaten meat my entire life but the beauty of the images surpassed any queasiness it gave me. ;)

I hear you Bob. Once I signed up for a cooking show and didn't realize they were gonna kill lobsters in front of everybody. Since then, I always ask in advance before signing on if there would be any animals harmed on set.. am a Vegan.

REALLY? That is impressive Justin.

Another great video Bob. I'm shopping today for better lights. The closest inexpensive competitor to K5600 Jokers I can find are the HMIs from CoolLights. Let me know if you guys know of something else. I wish Jokers cost half as much as they do.

Ah,

labatt 50. Brought back memories of quebecand the lobster brought back memories of Nova Scotia where they could be had for five bucks a pound at the lobster pound.

id say no garlic needed in the butter and nice lighting.

david

PS: being a vegetarian is the most opulent status one can attain on earth, very few people have the choice to eliminate all meat from their diets, it s a sign of great wealth!

Miam !
What herbs do you use with the butter ?
What light did you use ?
What file did you upload to vimeo, size, compression, codec, the result here on a big screen is impressive, congratulations and I hope to see more,
Thank you

Wow impressive look. And that's available light only? Must have been a damn sunny day :)
Did you use any bounce/reflectors ? And how come it feels so incredible bright? Huge windows and no roof? :) Anyway would love to hear some details of your setup and camera settings (ISO, aperture etc)

Thanks for sharing! This really looks beautiful - as long as one doesn't mind the death of the animals.

Du-roollll :drool5:

Just wish they'd used creamed coconut instead of butter with the virtual one I ate.

Nicely done.. Bob. Was wondering what lens you used in the wide 2 shot looking towards the window with the table in the fore ground.. And did you use any bounce from the window to get that fill??
I got to find a couple of lobsters now..
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Bob, beautiful work - I loved the shot when the carton of beer is opened and you see him smiling down.

I have a question though - was this an advertising piece for the chefs/lobster business? Or was this just a creative piece conceived by Edward Pond?

EDIT: Oh, this answers my questions http://www.suginostudio.com/artists/edward-pond/ I guess a little of both.

Thanks Russ. No bounce cards. Just the natural light. Thats what I love about shooting with the Epic - being able to dig in there and lift those mid tones. And those wide shots were with the Leica 19mm.

We shot at 800 ISO and anywhere from F2.8 to F4. Here's an idea of the space:

Thanks Daniel. The beer carton was done the same way as the pouring video here:
