List of compatible V-mount/AB batteries

Nick.

So there are two battery options and plates for the Epic?

V-Lock Mounts/Bats or AB Mounts/Bats?

AB gold mount or V- mount is a personal preference a lot of people swear the AB are more durable, and then there are people like Nick that haven’t had great luck with AB. I personally like how the (AB gold mount style batteries) mount and lock, to me they seem more secure. But, I didn’t drop the coin on the ABs I went with the Switronix gold mounts, it’s a brand I know and has a pretty good reputation. B&H has a rebate on them right now so you can get the 98w/h for $250

or 2 batteries and a 2-battery charger for $833.50.

I’m still waiting on my MG1 concepts AB battery plate. Once I receive it I’ll let you know if the battery % meter works on my scarlet.

I worked with an Epic running AB Hytron 50s and they worked, but they just didn't last too long and the LCD reading on the side of the battery wasn't accurate to the needs of the camera.

Basically, what we discovered was the battery had the power, but it couldn't maintain the necessary voltage when the battery was getting low. So, even if the LCD was reading 2 bars, 15 minutes, we would need to swap because we were getting into low voltage territory.

Practically speaking, Hytron 50s give 20~25 minutes of power to an Epic with a TVLogic monitor.

The Dionic 90s, on the other hand, were much better.

I've found that my Dionic 90's last between an hour and half to an hour an forty five minutes depending if I'm running any accessories off of it on my Scarlet.

Same here, about an hour and a half to 1:45 on Dionic 90s and Dionic HC (I use the HCs if I'm running wireless follow focus, extra monitors etc.)

Wey,

In regards to your post about using the HyTRON 50 batteries on the Epic camera, I would advice against doing so as you will not get the best performance. For future reference we do not recommend using the HyTRON 50 on any setup that exceeds a 50 watt draw. As you have seen you will get much better performace from our DIONIC 90, as well as DIONIC HC and DIONIC HCX which were designd for high current draw applications.

Any questions please feel free to ask.

Good to know that. Would be great to have a detailed list of all V-mount & AB batteries for only RED cameras from Manufactures or suppliers from their professional knowledge of specs. We are all here because we support or have RED cameras.

We will ask our suppliers of such detailed spec for only RED camera like power draw, power performance and what is best battery for RED cameras in their humble opinion.

Bought a set of these:

EXACT same battery as several suppliers sell at much higher cost (esp when you factor in shipping cost and payment methods "certain" battery vendors charge for). Looks like a lot of these companies are sourcing from the same chinese factory...
-FREE shipping
-FREE chargers (!!)
-total ebay protection (which actually works in my experience)
-great before AND after tech support
-passes voltage info thru to Scarlet menu display (volts)

Will be buying more....

Kyle, I am looking at buying a few Dionic HCX batteries, can't seem to find them in stock anywhere... is there any reason for this? Most places are a 1-2 week lead time.

Also, trying to figure out the difference between the TWQ-4 and TM4 chargers. Any help would be much appreciated!

Edited: I see, the TM4 charges twice as fast as the TWQ. What is the charge rate on these though, for, say, the Dionic HC and HCX? Also, is there a 2-position equivalent of the TM4?

My Scarlet works perfectly with my very old Ni-Cd Paglock 13.2V batteries. well, they are heavy and run only for an hour but I have those batteries since I bought my Sony 400AP...looooong time ago !
