  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Letus Gimbal

I missed today's webinar. The notice for tomorrows' webinar is confusing. The email notice says:
Tuesday, November 11th at 10am
(Central time UTC-06:00)

Does that mean that there are two webinars; one at 8am Pacific and one at 4pm Pacific?

Wasn't one of the Ronin's features that it could be used on a sled as well (by turning it upside down or something)? I, too, was hoping to use whatever gimbal I get as an electronic pan/tilt head.

IMHO, obsessive attention to balancing is the key to a happy Helix. When you think you have it properly balanced, keep tweaking it in tiny micro adjustments until it is even better. If you really learn how to balance it perfectly, you will enjoy great results.

So you guys using the Red QR have got a dovetail, the QR base and a camera plate for mounting to the Helix? That sounds like an extra pound at least. I'm looking for a rapid tripod-gimbal scheme that does not add weight if possible. Your system sounds fast but heavy.

No we use the bolt on RED QR plate. Adding a dovetail would raise COG & weight unnecessarily.

Then either dig into the tech till it's not, wait for Letus to improve things (they are amazing fast and constantly refining things) or spend a small fortune on a MoVI.

That was confusing, I just want it to work well, my pea brain couldn't follow all that geek talk.

That's an interesting looking add on, Brendan. But one thing I think could/might be problematic is that the right handle on the Helix controls the tilt and is directly wired into the tilt motor. If the arm brace isn't hinged to allow the pin to pivot at the "wrist", I don't think you would have tilt capability.

2.4Ghz DSM2 RC transmitter... does anyone have any advice in which ones work best for the Letus Helix?

hi all - couldn't find the answer to this question in this thread ...

what are the main differences between the standard and heavy duty camera plate option? any examples where the heavy duty plate would be more preferable?

many thanks.
