  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Letus Gimbal

I have had the best costumerservice ever with these letus Helix guys!! Thx James and Ken!!!
This is a compagny you can trust and i love my Letus Helix 👍😄

Tomorrow I'll receive my Epic... and waiting for the power cable to arrive from Letus.

I'm looking for a reliable wireless video system to go with the Helix. My Nyrius is too unreliable.

The DJI Lightbridge really draws my interest. Some tests online confirms its claim of up to 1.7km range in HD quality! But what worries me is that it runs on the 2.4GHz band. I'm afraid it will interfere with the RC receiver on the Helix and knocks out my pan & tilt control with the Spektrum.

Can anyone confirm this one way or the other?

Teradek bolt has been very reliable for me as well. I have use it on my steadicam since it was available. They also have a long range version. The light bridge has a tiny delay. Which might be bad dependent on your setup with audio for video village. Even the least expensive bolts are no noticeable delay. I believe the bolts are in the 5ghz range somewhere.

I'm using a paralinx wireless video (HDMI) and Cinevizer googles on the assistant/focus puller and now the Hotlink and fool control with canon glass on the Epic and Helix. The paralinx and Hotlink can be powered via a Mophie USB battery mounted right on the camera.

I came to the conclusion I couldn't trust focus pulling via our cine visors. You obviously feel differently?

Thank you,

When are we going to start seeing some shots with the LETUS?

Im loving this from a RONIN https://vimeo.com/108788959

There's nothing in that video that any accomplished operator couldn't do with any of the current gimbals. The gear is not the enabler or limiter at this point. It's what you bring to the game.

Than that bodes well for the Ronin (since it's cheaper and readily available).

Different products with different missions. Pick what's best for your intended work. Both Ronin and Helix are available from stock I believe.

For me size, weight, design and domestic manufacturer / support were the key decision drivers in my choosing the Helix. It has been a great little addition to the kit. Letus is working on some real cool future projects last time I was at their factory. Good times for the entire industry!

Ill ask this again, has anyone tested both Ronin and Helix with a RED body?

To me the MOVI is out of the price loop and Helix is almost out of my price range now compared to the Ronin.

But I was sold on the Helix from the great posts by the users here.

Also the one option of attaching to a Steadicam arm.

Has anyone got that going with the Ronin?

Great I get that but at the time I posted I wasnt seeing a whole lot of work using until GT Le posted all the links.

Thanks again GT for that :)

Strange, I Google the Helix and Steadicam and nothing comes up in images and video.

I know of one user thats posted a pic but would like to see more in action along with the Steadicam arm.

Thank you,

I try to use a large monitor when I can, some times we are in the middle of nowhere and need to travel really light, then the zeiss cinemizer comes into play, with the focus assist tool enabled, it's not ideal but it can work. But yes, I agree, nothing like a 24" for focus confirmation.
