  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Letus Gimbal

Elizabeth,

Thanks for the clarifying question. We will ship this week and next week with the current LiPo batteries as we already have it and they are good enough for use. Those of you who receive these batteries will then receive a coupon for the equivalence of number of LiPo batteries that you have bought to purchase the Li-ion batteries. You keep the Lipo too.

PS. The Li-ion is 5200mAh. Sorry about the 4am typo.

I don't believe your name is Hien. I think you're really Santa Claus.:-) Amazingly generous.

Yes, pics please! And video of it in action if possible. Thanks!
Yo, Scott-
Resulting shots from Helix-mounted Red is what is really needed; not just more behind the scenes of it in action. But of course you know that! Congratulations Scott! Great to see you got your Helix in time for your trip to Cuba!

I see that Peter Majtan is going to be testing the Ronin in Tokyo and is planning on mounting a GoPro on the Ronin's handle to provide a direct comparison to the stabilized effect on Red footage. Great idea. Do you happen to have a GoPro you can slap onto your Helix handle?

can someone please tell me the web address for the Helix direct users. I have a log in and password for seal team but i can't find the web address anywhere

Soon . . .

Letus is my new favorite company. Period. Hein and company are simply amazing! Long live the Seal Team! :)

Zeb that case looks great ;)

Looks like a nice, small, manageable rig! Any initial thoughts or footage to share?

My personal observations:
1. Top mount is more challenging than bottom mount for monitor, Terradek location etc
2. EZ Rig can introduce a bobbing effect and is limiting in range of movement
3. I prefer the Steadi arm approach since it kills the Y axis issue. I have AP Raptor on order.
4. If you can manage to carry the weight . . . 3 axis is way more flexible and fun

Stay tuned . . .

So cool that you're getting to know your Helix in Portland with the maestro himself at your side.:-)

Can you elaborate on the "top mount" comment? Not sure if you're talking about different ways of configuring a 4-axis Helix or whether you're comparing Helix to the aerial style gimbals that use the hanging style design. Looking forward to more impressions & tips from you and the other guys who got their units today!

The Helix 4th axis is a yoke style bracket that can be top mounted for a crane / EZ Rig or bottom mounted for a Steadi style rig. I prefer the bottom position since there is nothing across the top to interfere. For a crane rig the top mount will be fine since your monitor will be off camera. The Helix is very flexible and unique in this regard. For short takes I'm going with the 3 axis since it allows maximum freedom for creativity. With a Raptor and 4th axis it is going to be an all day rocker!

I'm curious to see it mounted to a steadicam arm.
