Would someone post footage of this with a Red on it, shaking it in front of a mirror? This is a standard way to test gimbal. You should see little motion on the position of the lens in the mirror reflection.

I'm somewhat confused in terms of the Helix being part of a group buy. I've sifted through all the pages and it seems there is mention of a group buy for Red Users but after inquiring with Letus, I got an email stating the group buy had already ended. This was last week and I'm really bummed because I wanted to particapte in that. Was the group buy only part of the first batch and not available to the next round of reservations?
Thanks for any info... sooooo much sifting to go through.

Why is batch 2 live when i haven't heard anything from Aaron? I sent him an email explaining my paid deposit and what i wanted and i haven't heard a thing?

I'm not sure if there are Group Buy guidelines but one thing that would be very helpful is if the first post in these giga-threads would get updated as to current GB status. This is the Letus Gimbal GB thread but there is no sign of it on the first page -- the first of 113 pages and counting. It's really difficult to figure out what is going on I think that is why we see so many random questions.

I think that Letus should sell a complete "master kit" with batteries, wireless joystick remote like terry has as a complete bundle in various stages. Im after the 4 axis system as a whole without having to read 113 pages of this thread and/or pages on the letus website.

If its a simple deal that works then they will sell heaps

Sometimes you have to pay attention in order to get what you want.

Letus has bent over backwards to make this work very well for the folks that expressed an interest early on. It wasn't at all hard to keep up with what they were doing here. I know some folks joined the conversation late but, in truth, the first batch of the Helix production (all earmarked for RUs) went pretty darn fast anyway. Letus just didn't want to keep it open indefinitely or production might have gotten far behind the orders - potentially pissing more than a few people off.

In the end, the group buy was awesome NOT because it was a super deep discount (it wasn't) but because they listened to all of our wishes and incorporated many of them in the fnal product. Anyone who gets in on the second round of orders is still going to get a fabulous product that has been informed by the collective input of the first folks in. Perhaps a little time has been lost for those who haven't yet ordered but it will probably be paid back multiple times over in how smooth your purchase is likely to be coming up.

There were no losers here.

(Oh, and believe me, they will sell "heaps.")

Just a gentle correction on one point, Med. This is not the "Letus Gimbal GB" thread. It's just the "Letus Gimbal" thread and was never started for a group buy but just as an informational thread on the Helix itself. Thanks to this thread, which only had a few posts when I was at NAB, I actually HEARD about the Helix in time to visit the Letus booth while there. So the first X number of pages were entirely about the product, its features, design, etc. Then someone floated the idea of doing a group buy, and I wound up contacting Hien (president of Letus and Helix mastermind) privately about that potential.

What evolved from those communications was never a traditional group buy, and that's why a dedicated thread was never started. Basically Letus offered REDUsers -- via posts in this thread -- who wanted to put in a downpayment within a specified window of time the right to the very first production units released, which, depending on production capacities, could be a substantial time benefit. The other publicly advertised benefits included a modest discount of a little over a $100 and admission to a private forum run by Letus to gather early adopter feedback as the product continued/continues to evolve towards the final shipping version.

So the terms here were very unlike most group buys, and all the details were handled at the Letus website and via emails from Letus to those who elected to make the downpayment during the open period. I feel for those who weren't following the thread closely and missed their chance at the first production units. But whenever orders open back up for the next round, be ready to jump on it. I'm sure a lot of others will be by then.:-)

Totally understand as I have followed it from the start.

Letus will start shipping these units by this Thursday
