  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Letus Gimbal

Hi all,

With all the changes and we implement with RU's, we don't think we will be pushing out the schedule anything (maybe a few days), so we are still looking good at around 25th, except for the battery, that may comes a week or so later. The battery indicator, my circuit engineer is putting even an MCU in it so when it's really out of juice, it'll flash at you, so you won't ignore it. Tough to get in that tight space, but I think we got it. Working on the joystick also, hope to give you guys some options here. A lot of cable options are being made so you don't have to look far for it. And here is a new render for Terry.

Looks fantastic.

Looks beautiful Hienie. A real work of art!

Can't believe it is getting this close... :)
Really great work!

Anyone had more thoughts about a suitable Steadicam vest and arm for the Helix that doesn't break the bank? Not sure if the Chinese ones will have enough capacity to carry the Helix plus RED or F5. I understand the vests are okay but it's the arm that obsesses me. :confused5:

Hi everybody. Has there been word about how long it will take to initially set up the camera with these counterweights? And also if I switch to a different lens with weight difference, when do I need to recalibrate it?

Can't believe it's this close already! Letus has done such an amazing job with this product. Congrats to your team!

Is there an official (or close estimate) weight for a 4 axis system? I'd like to combine this with an easy rig and am trying to figure out which shock absorber to get.
Also, what's the weight of the Juice Box batteries?

By all previous reports, initial set-up is fairly easy as it is an axis at a time. the weights are there to get the camera's center of gravity to be around the center point of the lens so the camera spins freely around that axis. When you change lenses, the only thing that needs to change on the balance is the fore-aft position on the one axis; fairly trivial.

There are some good explanations in the videos cited at the beginning of this thread.

Good questions. I'd be curious about that, too.

Can anyone refresh the concept of the 4 axis? I keep scanning the pages and can't find any renderings, I'm curious as to what it looks like

It's not a 4th axis at all. It's a U shaped bracket to hold the gimbal, so that you can mount it on a Steadicam arm.
The Steadicam arm is the 4th axis ( Y axis, or up and down axis ). Not an electronically stabilized axis, in other words.

You could say it is a sophisticated bracket that "enables" the 4th axis, as well as various other modes of use. :-)

Is there still some sample footage in the works? Would love to see this in action!

Maybe I missed it somewhere, but has there been any indication as to the complete details for the group buy? I know LETUS was working on trying to figure out exactly what they were going to give group buyers in terms of gimbal package, 4th Axis (bracket) price, etc.

Also, I definitely think we should all see the test footage shot recently on the BMCC 4K before 100% committing to paying in full.

Just curious and anxious about all of this because the anticipated shipment date is coming quick!

Thank you Terry. I'll recheck these.

just wondering when are we going to get the chance to turn our deposits into proper orders?

In post #791 of this thread, Hien said he was still looking at finishing by the 25th with maybe another week for the battery to be ready. That should provide some sense of timing.

I think this stuff needs to get addressed before anymore money moves. Period.

You can do what you want of course, but these are my terms lol
