  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Letus Gimbal

Looking at the piece, it's not at all impressive. Thinking about the usage it gives would. If you stare at it, nothing to impress you. if you think of its use, it's different. It gives you all day shooting, with reduced "walky-ness".

I tested this at NAB. Liked it second to the Ronin. For straight "this could replace a shoulder mount rig" it was better than the Ronin, more compact and closer to the body.
From the drawings it looks like they cut out a lot of weight from the bracing. If indeed this is three pounds for the 3axis- no more shoulder mount for me. Adios overweight, overpriced z....oh my. Well probably not, why lose a tool.
Going into NAB I was figuring up to 8 or 9g to spend on a pro gimbal. Seems to me out of all the gimbals at NAB that we have two great products and companies in the Letus and Ronin and, if both have nice group buys, probably makes sense to have both- flexibility and backup- 8 to 9g for both. No waiting time heli to handheld, etc. Covers all the bases and your butt when out in the field.

Nice

Out of curiosity, what differentiates the two for you? Why Ronin #1, this #2? They are the two that stand out to me as well but it's difficult without seeing them both in person.

@constantine - with the '4th axis bridge piece' you can mount it on a jib.. If you mount it upside down and with the 'frame on the bottom'.
See the pictures on the side. So then you could shoot down... 90 degrees.

Also a good news is that our custom motor will be here for the first batch. It's 32% more powerful than the any motor out there, that can structurally holds up to 20lbs and spin it. Before this invention, I tested the stock motor and it only could turn 16. It broke my back and the system still performed. I can advertise whatever with 3 axis because no one wants to carry more than 12 lbs in front, even though the Helix is the most compact one. Now, I have to be really careful advertise the pay load because you can shoot with whatever payload the system can support.

If you pay close attention to the pictures, the Helix can be just lifted up from the 4th Axis system and handheld, in applications like handing off through the windows, etc.
This is so exciting! I will have to wait until I can view on something other than a mobile phone but the 4th axis looks like the solution for quick re purposing of the rig on a variety of hardware and setups while retaining one of the things I like best about the helix . . . The ability to shoot handheld with minimal clutter and bulk behind and above the rig. Can't wait to study this all more carefully tonight!

Constantine - have you refreshed your browser so that you can see the fourth axis link. It almost seems like you haven't. Just trying to understand your concerns.

EDIT: There is a link to new pictures.

sorry mate , I just refresh and I still dont see the 4th axis, I can only read the text , maybe Iam missing it?

Edit just pushed the more details and I see it, yes thats exactly what I said above, additional frame and extra axis as long as its motorised though, is it?

Is there 3 motors or 4? Maybe the 4th axis is "by others"

3 Motors

Finally what I have been waiting for! This looks so cool.

When will they be available? Is pricing finalized?

@Constantine - I understand what you getting' at. If you would 'lock' the 4 axis frame then what I described would work wouldn't it? (don't know if that would be possible)
This would should be an option for mounting it to a Jib...

Says the guy that invented the ultimate gimbal ;-)

Not so easy to do my friend - fast way is to "Go Advanced" and upload from there

That's why I joined since 2008 and still a Junior Member Zeb. LOL
