  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Letus Gimbal

What Nick said may very well be true, but nevertheless, Letus has indicated they will produce a larger model of the Helix that will be designed to accommodate the Alexa. This one apparently will not.

Are we supposed to be seeing something on the private forums? I see a forum index but zero posts in each category.

Once you are registered and your account has been added to the private group, you will see a new category called "SEAL Team" and a sub forum called "Helix Dev". The other forums you are seeing when you first sign up will be for the general public when we release it later this month.

Ok, so I'll sit tight until I get an email from you stating that I can now enter the private group?

Edit: Nevermind, I saw that I was already granted access.

If you signed the NDA and signed up on the private forum and don't see the "SEAL Team" category, PM me your username so I can make sure to get you added to the private group. I'm matching up what I can but if I miss any, just let me know. Thanks!

I've been looking into this for some time, and drooling. I've been on several shoots in the last 2 weeks with Movi's and a rig called the Ghost (flying 5ds).
I'm a Toronto based camera Op and I'm seriously thinking about getting this unit. How can I stay in the loop? Is the group buy closed, for realses?
I have several TV shows currently running and a couple of features pending... We use a lot of Sony F5/55 and Epics. I'd love to get this system and give it the gears!

The special (early) reservations that Letus graciously arranged for REDUsers is closed. Per the Helix website, you can sign up for alerts when new reservations will be accepted. I haven't paid too much attention to posts about other cameras since I'm only using an Epic (and, perhaps on occasion, a Canon 5D Mark II), but you might want to search this thread for Sony f5/55 as I know there are questions about fit for those cameras, particularly with certain accessories or components.

Thanks very much EL, Ill look at relevant sites for more info. Very impressed so far though.

It sure is quiet here. I guess all the action is going on in the private forum over at letusdirect. I still can't log in there, even though Aaron PMed me that he had added me to the private group. Help!
Hi Paul, did you click on sending the activation mail? If not, this will do it.
Cheers,
Marc

I never received the email that was supposed to link back to complete registration to activate. They say I'm all set up but I still can't login. I feel like I'm locked out with a wild party going on inside...

Did you received the e-mail with the NDA? If yes, there is a link to register:You can register in our forum here:
http://forum.letusdirect.com/ucp.php?mode=register
First register, then click on the "sending activation e-mail" link.
After that you should receive a mail from letus (help@letusdirect.com) with a activation link. Click it and you're done.

All that was done except the last step of Letus sending me an activation link. But never mind...James at Letus support finally fixed it.
I'm now in, even though I had to climb through the window...;-)

I manually activate all of the accounts that were marked "inactive". There were only a couple. If you are still having problems, let me know and I'll kick it around some more to see if we can get it working for you.

How do some of you plan to mount wireless HDMI transmitter like the paralinx with this rig? Just wondering...trying to figure out the cleanest way of doing so without cables going everywhere since I only see an SDI connector on the Helix. (And I was trying to avoid using an SDI to hdmi converter.)

Mount the transmitter directly on the camera?

Hi MArc / Aaron Please point me the way to purchase those. A shame I missed group buy... Tks.
Gino.

I was just worry about having enough space for the hdmi cable sticking out of the back of the Epic...I am also considering getting Wood Cam C box converter to stick at the end of the Epic which has a spot on top to mount the paralinx directly (and a built in sdi to hdmi and vice versa...hopefully is doens't make the camera too long to be compatible with the Helix.)
