OK, RED - you have a new body that takes advantage of existing mini-mag media and REDvolts + REDvolt XLs.You've managed to also create 240GB and 1TB mini-mags in addition to the original 512GB version. Now, let's talk about getting REDvolts + XLs 2.0. The original REDvolts have been around long enough, and there have been thousands of posts complaining about their 25-30 mins of life + 60-90 mins recharge rate. Since these can work across all three bodies (Scarlet, Epic, Weapon), can we PLEASE finally get ones that last longer and charge faster?!

They'd have to fit the current design, of course - not sure how limiting the small and XL blocks are in terms of power management in the batteries.

An entirely new Quad charger that is reliable on shoot day sets would be my desire.

I have 4 redvolts and 3 XLs and love them to death!

But the current Quad charger (Blinking green/red issue) makes me hesitant on ramping up inventory on the RedvoltXls at the moment.

Knocking on wood as Red quickly swapped my funky one out for a new one which works like a champ currently, but always nervous that it may kick the bucket at the worst possible time.

It is way to stressful charging the XLs through the XL module 1 at a time overnight as my only constantly reliable charging method.

I've been screaming for a Redvolt 2.0 for a very long time now. Since there hasn't been a mention of a Weapon compatible side handle I don't know how realistic this will be. For me the only reason for a Redvolt is to have nothing else to power the camera. I am not a big fan of the XLs and the Weapon module that houses a Redvolt costs 3950... not for me.

Actually, they now have the REDvolt Expander for Weapon, so REDvolts will be in the system for quite some time!

Yes! My 'problem' as well - Love the REDVolts, just wish they were more reliable when trying to charge them.

Can you elaborate? Is it just about the charging process? Or also the charge they hold?

For me it is about getting them to charge. Randomly the quad charger will flash red/green when you put a battery in it. Doesn't matter how long you let it 'cool' down after removing it from the camera; 20 minutes, 2 hours, a week - the red/green will still flash.

The batteries themselves will show a low-ish percentage (~80-90%) even after an over-night charge, but I'll still get respectable shoot times from them.

I only shoot with Redvolts. On the Dragon, every single one "dies" at 10% charge. And also, have some memory at the top end- 80% fully charged, for example. Red should come up with Redvolts with more capacity.

God - if they fixed the blinking red/green charging problem - I'd be so happy. Otherwise I'm satisfied with revolts and their quirky "never full" charge readouts - I just can't rely on them because they can't always take a charge!!

I think it´s not your redvolts, it´s the quad charger. I had the same problem and the travel charger charged with no issue but the quad charger I been trough 3 of them. but I think RED have sorted it now.

Personally I really like the formfactor of the XL´s and I liked having the side handle on the camera. for hotswaping. What I did not like was that there is no bigger options for XL´s
Having volts, XL´s and Vlocks and chargers to them all just to have size options is not really practical. So I would love to have a volt XXL that last like twice or three times of the current XL's
Also I would love to have XL battery plates. That I could use on other stuff. As now I need Vlocks to lamps end everything else, then got XL´s to the camera. It would be so nice to just be able to use XL´s to everything....

To me it´s that or red should just ditch this battery system and make small Vlock Bricks. Having the two battery mount systtems does not make much sense.

Maybe of interest with the most recent production firmware...

I popped a redvolt that had sat on a travel charger unintentionally for 2 days into an Epic-D and the percentage remaining said 100% for a few seconds once powered up. And I've never seen a volt display as 100% before.

However, the total up time from the volt seemed the same as before, and i got a warning the system would shut off once i saw 10% was remaining.

This makes me suspect the whole percentage display factor may be mostly cosmetic...

I'd like to believe that fitting a better battery in the same REDvolt casing (which is backwards compatible with DSMC1) should be very possible... I didn't realize Sony's were 56Wh!!! They're not much bigger in size (though different shape) as a RV, and 56Wh would last almost 45mins+... That'd be decent.

...Plus, you know, Sony batteries actually charge (and store their charge) properly.
