  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

19th of June, Thursday, 10:37 am - build release.. UAE timing of course.
freggin awesome... i'll be shooting next weekend.. which is on the 27th.. this build is so gonna kick ass... ill be loading build 16.. shoot.. load into thy machine.. if it messes up.. put the cf card.. back to build 15.. load into thy machine...

are you guys excited? im pretty darn excited!

1 quick question though.. will this whole new redspace thing be released too? so that we can see the works in redcine? will it be a new redcine release.. and will that be released too?
 
Tomorrow we start the cameras tests for a film, a film with lots of nights, we need this low noise in lowight. Really without the B16, the DOP will not choose the red.

We need B16.

GREAT news ... if you can, could you elaborate / correct me on the following :

a) how will the Build-16 R3D files be processed, initially RedAlert and at some stage RedCine ?
b) will the RedAlert (and later RedCine) also process pre-Build-16 R3D files, ie: backward compatible ? or do we need to run 2 versions until Build-16 settles down & RedCine for Build-16 is released ?
c) if RedCine is a later down the line, what is approx ETA (days, weeks or months) ?

All the Mac zealots are going to get into the party... us poor PC proletariats are stuck waiting for Redcine to let us past the velvet ropes. No 48 hours for us, it is more along the 96 hour wait if we're lucky.

Won't deny, I am jealous... just not jealous enough to fall under the Steve Jobs Reality Distortion Field (tm) and buy an image machine from that MP3 player and cell phone company.

Yeah, I'm bitter... I'll have to live vicariously through you Kool-Aid drinking lemmings... there I go with the bitter again.

I hope all the popularest kids who play with the most coolerific tools from the company that is the most innovatatistic of them all... I hope they share some of that Build 16 footage they shoot with us knuckle draggers. Pretty please.

Jim? What are your thoughts on switching to build 16 mid-production. Will it be too much of a learning curve for the camera crew? I'd like to start testing 16 right away, but if there's no turning back then maybe I should wait... Shooting doesn't end until july.
 
1781 just landed, we are doing our 1st test on a 48 hour film this weekend and I did not think twice about it, we will be beta testing 16! Will post film on monday, wish us luck.

If you are updated to Build 16 beta right away - PLEASE make sure you have your post production pipeline sorted out.

SCRATCH does not yet support Build 16 footage.

Yes, we expect it very soon, we want it yesterday, but it's not ready.

I just want to make sure that a bunch of folks don't update their cameras to 16 - rent them out on commercials, etc. that send R3Ds to post houses that use SCRATCH, etc.

Remember, you can't turn back.

(It really is the COOLEST build ever - just need SCRATCH to play the footy!!)

Indeed, I just wish I had a camera to try all these instead of reading all about it. Dont get me wrong, I am glad that I am being able to learn all these from you guys, but I'd just like to have a camera to complement the threads.

Be thankful for what you have!:meh:

I COMPLETELY AGREE! I can't afford one because the movie studio I work at doesn't pay enough to even save up for a scarlett :( It's time to go somewhere else.
