I have been storing back up files of our Red-One footage downloaded into internal hard drives in Hudzee cases.

We are on a VERY limited budget, and what I just can't believe, is what those damn cases cost. $7.50/ea (including shipping) just seems waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over the top to me for some stupid plastic boxes.

There just "has" to be some other brand or something that those hard drives can be stored in that does not cost so much. I'm sure to those of you that have lots of money with lots of expensive equipment, think I'm being petty and ridiculous, but every penny counts to us. And, even if it didn't, things do have value, and what they are asking for these cases is just above reason.

If you know of any other cases at more reasonable prices, please let me know ASAP.

Thanks for your time.

Amen brother. Even if you have the funds you still feel ripped off. We've been scavenging old BetaSP tape cases as an alternative.

For the last 3 years I've been trying to find a hard drive manufacturer to sell cases of 10 hard drives, each in it's own Hudzee-like plastic case, in a stout cardboard box with a flip up handle. If nothing else, just think of how much less packaging would be required. On some shows I'm tossing a garbage bag full of packaging every week :-(. Stupido.

Here you go, $2 a pop: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Plastic-PVC...US_Drive_Enclosures_Docks&hash=item3f13e669e5

I could never quite justify the cost of a Hudzee, so a bought a bunch of these when I first found them... works as you would expect.

Thanks much!

I'm going to give them a try. The only hitch in that "type" of case would be trying to fit the anti-static bag "with" the little pouch of desiccant in there as well, which I "have" to be able to do for safety sake. I am able to do that with the book-type cases.

Thanks again.

I'm recycling my plastic VHS box since years now.
I keep the anti static bag and little bag against humidity who comes with the hard drive and stuck them both in the vhs case.
It works fine at no cost, this is only if you have a good VHS collection. ;-)

That's exactly what I use: BetaSP Amaray cases, with the hub locks filed off. A friend of mine at a TV station gave me 100 of them for free, and I've been slowly working my way through the pile, using them for bare 3-1/2" SATA drives.

I agree, you'd think somebody would sell these for a buck each!
