  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Stealing lenses like this can't possibly have been done by an informed individual... how many are there in circulation in the world? The delivery time if you join the waiting list today is close to ten years as they are near to impossible to manufacture.... hope this gets resolved very soon and hope everyone who works with Summilux-C's check the serial numbers.

Anything can be done for a price I imagine...and with the price of these lenses the possible return makes it a potentially worthwhile expense for a tout or thief.
 
That stuff most likely can't be fenced in the US due to it's nature so they had to have been stolen specifically for someone to use in this country or to be sent outside the country to foreign markets as much of the high-end thefts seem to be these days. Was this an outright break-in/robbery or a talk-n-take like most of the stuff we've seen?
 
Where can a buyer go to have serial number of lenses for sale to avoid buying stolen goods?
 
Whoa Shame on the Thief.......... But double shame on the owner for not protecting these fine lens as if it where a new born child.
Call me stupid but these lens would have been under LOCK AND KEY with IP camera pointed at them at all times like my Epic when I'm not using it! I can access the camera from my phone 24/7. But yeah this sucks. over 200K in lens WOW!

With violence, everything can be stolen. Last year I had a lot of gear stolen... four guys and a simple knife. Probalby heavier weapons, but we wouldn´t check. They pretended to return gear from an existing producer company. And the security cameras show their faces clearly... and uselessly. Who are them? Nobody knows. Hundreds of thousands of look-alikes...
Gear stolen in Buenos Aires, Argentina... may be in Ecuador, or Pakistan, or wherever. Producers renting it would not check serial numbers as it´s none of their business... and that when the gear HAS serial numbers. Lots of expensive cine gear does not carry a serial number today. Probably getting lower rental prices... so less interest in checking dubious gear.
Nothing to do about it but regret the situation.

Well I guess that's a little different then someone sneaking into your house while your not home. But wow.
