  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Leica SummiCRON-C's......

Only selling in sets of 6 at about $95k US

On that I agree, even so its still a 56k difference on a set of 8, but I put this lenses at 15k each as that to me is a more just price, of course they can't absolute be in the same price range of the old Ultra Primes, as the Summilux are pricers then the less old but still old Master Primes.

Exactly in the price range I said they would be... ;)

Did they give you the final focal length details Christopher?

They didn't have access to the file with the details while we were on the phone. He wrote down all my questions and is supposed to send available specs with my quote. I certainly expect them to range from 18 to 100. Man, I wonder how my Leica-R Van Diemens are going to intercut???

I think they will too. The original words was they would match the focal lengths of the Summilux-Cs and I don't think that's changed.

No real idea how they will intercut, but they will likely breath less and not exhibit any shift. These are going to be a solid investment though. I certainly see them being a popular compact light weight choice and perhaps something 3D folks may want to look closely at too.

If i could find credit at the right terms I would jump on the Summicron set of 6 Greg listed above. For roughly $100K you would have peerless optics that should rent for around $1,200/day - probably even $1,500/day while they're still scarce. IMO optics are 50% of the IQ equation and Leica is the king, just sayin'

Cheers - #19

from Gerhard at Leica regarding the PL to M-Mount adapter that was on their M's at the booth. Its a prototype that is still in progress. The main issue they have is that the M Mount is a bit weak for heavy Cine glass. They're working on it though and hope to bring it to market soon. They are also planning to have the Summicron-Cs coming in the second half of the year.
