  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

LEICA R on RED: Pictures

Question, I picked up and early 90’s summicron-r 135mm. The image is lovely and the glass clean. But the aperture ring is just the tinniest bit loose and not as snappy on the open end as my other leicas. Anybody else run into this issue? Is it going to be a problem or an expensive fix someday? It still moves through the stops fine, it’s just not always a strong click/snap on some stops. Thanks in advance!

Most of us have had these de-clicked/dampened so aperture clicks aren't usually an issue. Will you have yours de-clicked? If so, that may take care of the issue. If not, there may not be an easy fix without replacing the original mount as I'm guessing the pits on the underside of it are worn on one end where the metal ball isn't snapping into place as cleanly... but that's just a guess so take it with a grain of salt.

Thanks for the idea on it, Mark. I probably won't have them de-clicked unless I find it bugs me. I've cine-modded the mount and rings, so I'll let it ride for a bit and see. I'll keep looking around and maybe try to sneak it up to my local lens shop for an opinion. I appreciate it.

I love my Leica-R and everything I shoot I do it with those amazing lenses, so here are some clips you guys might like!

Hello,

Sorry in case this is a bit off topic,
I am considering an angenieux 70-210 F3.5. It has a leica R mount. Is there any way to convert it to PL?

I know in general one would likely use them with ef mount. But my idea would be to pair it with an angenieux dp rouge 16-42 lens (don't have the money to buy the bigger brother to pair it together). Wondered if any of you would have a suggestion.

Late last year I was lucky enough to grab a beautifully matched set of 1980/81 era Leica's from Mark M.
I've shot several projects with them thus far, here are some of my favorite screen grabs. A lot more to post once things get released.

Some great stuff posted in the not-so-distant past here.

Brian – watched your movie recently – got so caught up in the story forgot to take notice of the lenses most the time (always a good sign:) Ambitious and very well executed.
Rodrigo – sexy and fun work with gorgeous Leica rendering!
Jan – great on soooo many levels. Seemed very 'real' too...
Joseph – love those screen grabs, and glad you're loving your set!

I've been shooting more stills than anything else on my LRs recently, but hope to post some Red screen grabs soon...

On a side note, anyone know the going rate these days for already cine-modded Summicrons?

+1 !
I assume it all depends how many crons are in the case.

Nice frame grabs Jørgen. I'm really drawn to the lighting of the second one.

And looks great Arturo. Second one is stunning!

Love the LeicaR's I purchased from Mark. Have shot them almost exclusively since I've had them. 70-180 zoom is incredible. Working with Monstro, I can shoot 28mm upwards without vignette at 8K. I have been shooting mostly commercial/fashion stuff and get a kick out of every use.

And this is the E60 version!

Look forward to sharing more projects (film) when I can.

Looks great, Marcel! Do you have them rehoused in PL or is there an EF - LPL Adaptor? I thought about this Alexa LF - LeicaR combination but have my set in EF...
